Mirri, Cat Warrior - so this popped up in my meta in the commander slot and she's pretty brutal! The guy put a champion's helm and blanchwood armor on her and killed the green players in a couple of hits. I was playing esper and he gave me a forest with yavimaya dryad and almost killed me too. Why have I never see this card in play before? She's so good! Obsidian Battle-Axe! Anybody using her right now?
I feel that if you are going for a general damage with forest walk then Jedit Ojanen of Efrava might be a better one. Sure he might cost more but you are in green. He can make sure that you always have a blocker and in case he dies he makes sure there is someone else to continue the beats

I have always liked this card, I remember opening a booster pack with her in it (showing my age, lol). Very glad to see Mirri getting some EDH play. May even try her myself, someday.

Funny, I was about to start a SCD this weekend about wishing Mirri was a more playable commander, but I thought everyone would yell at me. I LOVE Mirri, Cat Warrior, not just because she counts as a cat warrior. I think I might make a GR deck helmed by Radha, Heir to Keld and fill it with efficient but non utility legendary characters. I'll most def be turning a Green Sun's Zenith into a Mirri as often as possible.
She is a star in my cat tribal deck.
I was thinking yesterday if she was strong enough to build a deck around her. Guess i got my answer lol
I may try that now

I'll be honest, I've been thinking about Yavimaya Dryad for a long time. It's like a Wood Elves, but you can totally seed some bad stuff for an opponent.
She also works with shocks and duals; you can donate a dual land and get other landwalks in for multicoloured.

Mirri is as viable as any other voltron commander. She's not my first choice, but she's aggressively costed, and there are a few ways to get forests into your opponent's hands (Gaea's Liege, Deepwood Elder).

I've always considered her as a fast, original tron idea (as I said in the 'hipster' tron general thread), something I've been debating trying to make work, if some day I 'liberate' my good equipment from other decks.
But she's still inferior... built-in Hexproof is definitely most optimal and mono-green has no toolbox capabilities. You just need to hope to draw what you need at a given time.
I really wish Sosuke, Son of Seshiro gave her actual Deathtouch to go with her First Strike and Vigilance. That would have made her really nasty to deal with.
Vigilance is pretty hard to come by in mono-green, and super useful in multiplayer games. I think that's the one thing Mirri has on Omnath and Thrun - She's almost always unblockable so you really never have a reason not to attack with her every turn.

You have 29 cards with/granting vigilance in monogreen, with more on the way now that vigilance is secondary in green. In addition, Seedborn Muse is a format staple.
Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!
I made it very aggressive, trying to pump her as soon as possible to deal 21 commander damage to a single opponent. Obviously, this is not a cEDH list, but I managed to win a game against a cEDH elves list (sideboarding in all my fog effects to survive the big attack).
In multiplayer, the deck is a bit more vulnerable, since you need to deal 21 damage x 2 or x 3, and opponents will do all they can to remove her. I added pretty much every protection spells I could to prevent this.

If more cards like Yavimaya Dryad, Bramblewood Paragon, and Obsidian Battle-Axe are printed, she'll be more worthy of consideration. I do like her a lot, but I'd like her to bring a little more to the table.
I really wish Sosuke, Son of Seshiro gave her actual Deathtouch to go with her First Strike and Vigilance. That would have made her really nasty to deal with.
Mono Red's Strengths and Mono White's Strengths
If I'm going to be using landwalk, it'll be with Trailblazer's Boots, Traveler's Cloak, or swampwalk + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
Or I'll just put a Whispersilk Cloak on Omnath, Locus of Mana, Kresh the Bloodbraided, Rafiq of the Many (to name a just few possibilities). Or Spirit Mantle/Holy Mantle on a white general, if I absolutely have to have unblockable.
Say what?
