How do you guys fit top-loaders into the ends of a fat pack box? I have to angle the top-loader and obviously that takes away space for the actual cards.
Also, does anyone know if a standard dice set (ie a chessex 12 dice set in the clear case) will fit inside an empty ion deck box? For drafts, I'd like to carry a dice set + sleeves in an empty case.
I had that problem with the toplaoders as well, but all you really need to do is cut like 1/4 inch off one long side with scissors, then it fits fine.

I just stick them along the side, rather than on the end. No need to cut the top-loader that way. There's plenty of space next to the sleeved cards anyway.
Dragon Shield also makes a deckbox that holds 100+ sleeved cards, they sell them at my LGS for 3$ or something. They come in all sorts of colors, especially good for mono-color decks. I found them at Troll and Toad, as well (but only in Green and Red): http://www.trollandtoad.com/p288820.html
As for sleeves, I'm usually a fan of Ultra Pro matte sleeves, but I'm willing to give Dragon Shields a second trial run. I've never been impressed, but people keep swearing by them. I've also heard good things about Fantasy Flight sleeves, which can also be found at Troll and Toad: http://www.trollandtoad.com/Gaming-Supplies/5985-483-2282p2n.html
I hate to necro a seemingly dead thread, but anyone have any sort of idea where I can find KMC matte sleeves in 100ct packs? Unfortunately, they've switched over to 80 ct packs and those are less ideal for edh decks.

Ultra Pro has matte sleeves that are sold in 100 packs.
Ultra Pro has matte sleeves that are sold in 100 packs.
I've been using them and the corners have been splitting on majority of the sleeves. I'm starting to not like them as much and want to start using the sleeves I used when I played legacy.
I don't have a problem with the 80ct packs, because you can just buy lots of them and use them for lots of decks, and have plenty of spares that way. If that doesn't suit you, though, just get Dragon Shields. More durable than KMC (although the surface isn't as good), and they come in boxes of 100 with a few spares thrown in.
I've always found Dragon Shields difficult to shuffle.
When I order cards on eBay, I always seem to get them in random Ultra Pro sleeves with a solid-colored, textured back. I love those. What are those called?
If they are textured and very slightly rough, and not shiny, then they are the Matte sleeves. Those are the ones that most people tend to use, because they are easy to hold, shuffle, and are durable.
I have this old metal Rook case that holds four of the metal Rook deckboxes (there's also some that hold 8 and 16 deckboxes if I remember correctly). I assume they're no longer made, which is a shame because they're heavy steel and can probably get run over by cars and hit by atomic weapons with little consequence. I got that way back in the day...like during Urza's or something. It's just been chillin' with some old decks in it for years, not getting much use.
Anyway, I took the deckboxes out and was pleased to see that 3 fully sleeved EDH decks fit with plenty of room to spare (almost enough for a fourth but not quite--I put my little dice box in that space). Even better is that the lid closes around a raised lip so the cards at the edges will NEVER get mashed no matter how carelessly you close it. Quite frankly the coolest discovery I've made.
My fourth EDH that I just made (Thrun Voltron) is staying in one of those clear Eldrazi artwork boxes that they made for RoE. I hope they make more for future sets. A pair of boxes for New Phrexia and\or Mirrodin Pure would be incredible (just have the Phyrexian and Mirran watermarks). o.0
As for sleeves I've just been sticking to matte-back Ultra Pro. They're inexpensive and last a good long time. And they come in so many pretty colors~
What kind of features do you want that would make the ultimate deckbox? I'm talking about things like, dice/counter compartment, a "window" to show off the general, things like that.
Reason being, I'm getting into 3d printing as a hobby, and I am thinking that my next project could be the "Ultimate MTG Deck Box". I already have made a life counter (here, if anybody is interested in printing it out themselves).

I think you should start a thread about it.
A window to display the general would appeal to me, but probably not a compartment, not sure. I think it would probably make the box too big and I keep all my dice/counters in something seperate (as I think most do).
So a few months ago I ordered some cards online and they were shipped in sleeves that look like this: http://i56.tinypic.com/2r7naf9.jpg (caution: large image)
They're basically foil sleeves, so when I put my foils in them I feel like Xzibit rolled in and pimped my pimp. And I want more of them, right now I just have enough for my generals and tokens. Anyone know what brand I should be looking for?
Also, on the topic of boxes, I find that fat pack boxes work the best. They're sturdy, lightweight, and fit 3 decks snugly: http://i54.tinypic.com/fp6lmx.jpg (white = Sisay, black = Sharuum, unsleeved = WIP Thada Adel and my stockpile of cool looking basic lands)

You need something stylish and durable, thats up to the maker. A clear front for the general to be seen at a glance (or just the deck sleeves). Maybe have a life counter built into the top as well. In fact, one thing I've always wondered is why deck boxes open from the top and not the front. If they opened from the front you could just lay your box down on the table and play straight from the box, put an opening down the length so you can easily finger the entire deck if you need to get it out. Whack a life counter within the binder so it falls flat when you open it out. Make it able to fit 100 cards and then have another slot adjacent able to fit ~30 cards. That second slot can then hold tokens and dice specific for that deck. A standard die is what, 20ish sleeved cards? Give it a lip so cards aren't wrecked when you close it up, and line it with felt. Also, the lip should be magnetic and the top should have a small metal border (or just all metal) so it seals tight magnetically. Thats what I want

I got mine from my LGS. Japanese packaging and all.

I used to have some of those (a long time ago before EDH came about). They wear out and get gross pretty quick. I wouldn't bother. I forget which company makes\made them.
Well I'm glad to see the thread is still getting the occasional response. I made several changes to the original post. Added more photos, and I'm still trying to decide how to handle the card sleeves section. I have used several kinds of sleeves myself, but not sure if I should just write my own review about a lot of them or let everyone slowly contribute their thoughts about the different type of sleeves and I add them to the original post.
I had that problem with the toplaoders as well, but all you really need to do is cut like 1/4 inch off one long side with scissors, then it fits fine.
I haven't had to cut any top loaders when using this method. Check the original post for images of a fat pack with regular top loaders in it. However, I know not all products are always the same length or width so maybe certain fat packs are slightly thinner than others, or the top loaders are slightly wider than usual.

Has anyone tried these? I'm not even sure if they can fit 100 sleeved cards, but I love the lid that acts as a container for your dice and/or counters.
ABU says they hold 80. The ultra-pro website is hopeless, but they put a similar product as holding 82, so I guess that's about what to expect. They look nice, but the lids seem a bit dangerous. Eirther falling off or mangling your cards/sleeves.

Darn, that's too bad about the sleeved count. However, while I can't say much about how well the lid seals, the box looks tall enough that the lid shouldn't touch the sleeves/cards.
I've one of these and they don't fit an EDH deck unfortunately. I keep my deck in a black plastic EDH deckshield box, but there's a nice new product by Arcane Tinmen for edh players which is said to hold 100 sleeved cards.
Oh right, the dragonshield plastic deck box. Someone else already mentioned this. I've added it to the 1st post near the bottom of the deck box list with photo included.
I can highly recommend the Dragon Shield boxes. After getting a couple of color ones, I switched to the clear since I could see the general. The box is quite thick and will hold 110-115 single sleeved cards
Anyone out there know if anyone sells a variety pack of the Dragon Shield sleeves? usually 105 come in the box, but I would like to have a few extra for a sideboard.
