Every once in a while i read this article.. I like making dragon decks, and this one just gives me additional will to make them
Thank You! That means so much that you love reading this I'm sorry I haven't updated the list lately. School has been killing me. But, I have read a article from Wizards finally giving more information about the Dragons from Planar Chaos. I'll upload a link as soon as I can.
I hope they will make some new appearance in the upcoming sets.... It's kinda obvious that Ugin or something like his spirit will be revived in Khans, but Planaar Chaos ones are just epic, and in the terms of being and edh general really great.
A colorless Elder Dragon? That'll be so dope! But yes Hopefully we'll get some more dragons in this set.
A nice read, and as someone who built a deck for each of these (six of them still being commanded by said dragons)... they're fun. Flavorful, big & stompy, and don't draw a lot of hate either as they're not as super-powerful unless really built around. Well, not a lot of hate comparatively speaking... Oros is a big stompy dragon but he's no Kaalia. Treva doesn't look half as scary as seeing Rafiq on the command zone. Etc.
That said, what I have learned is that you can't really count on their abilities that much until you get to the late-late game where you can drop the dragon, give him/her haste and protection AND still have mana left for the ability. I can't count the times I've had the dragon connect but hadn't had mana for the ability, or had the dragon attack and be ready to break things with the ability only to have the dragon killed somehow. People are usually pretty fine for you having the dragon... exactly up to the point where it might look like you're able to attack them and/or fire off the ability while at it. At six mana, keeping them around is rather crucial since recasting gets too expensive quickly unless you're really ramping it up.
...but even with all their supposed downsides, I still love 'em, and at least a few of them are probably fairly permanent fixtures of their respective color combinations for my decks.

I totally agree with you! And they obviously have their downsides and are not the greatest Commanders of their respected colors. But they still are pretty awesome. Having them connect is also a challenge in itself. Teneb, the Harvester is the best in my opinion, since he is in colors that provide lots of mana and also can just get you super far in terms of advantage. Thank you for your comments and feedback!
Cool thread, good job! This makes me want to pull out my Intet, the Dreamer again... I've also wanted to build a Dromar, the Banisher deck for a long while, but I haven't gotten my hands on a copy.

Thank you! Dromar is hard to find in stores, you're probably going to have to resort to online shopping. Intet is a super awesome commander, I use to run her and It was an absolute beast.
I'm listening to Summer by Calvin Harris and this is just awesome.... I can imagine all of the alternate Primeval dragons and the creatures from my deck lounging about Reki the story teller as he tells an awesome story.
Anyway, I made an awesome deck here that utilizes Scion as the General with 7 dragons (one of this is shapesharer) with the alternate dragons and Niv-Mizzet compromising my dragons. None of the dragons are of course the main star, but with Scion, they can be the star if you choose to be.

Calvin Harris is the man. But I should feature a section on Scion since he is kind of all the Primeval Dragons combined. Thank you for sharing your list and your kind support!

Np. After all he is my favorite dragon. There's alot of great stuff about this guy, first and foremost, he's a flyer and he allows you to get free library shuffles. So right off the bat, he's perfect to help out skillborrower get to that sensei's divining top or whatever other activated ability that is right underneath her. 3rd, He's a copycat. I've had alot of fun with both him and shapesharer. Story and flavor-wise it does make me sad that he doesn't actually have a storyline within mtg and is just an idea in form.
LOL. I thought the OP was referring to the RC members. Their influence is pretty primeval too.
In the spirit of this thread: 'Burn'.
On topic: still awaiting the extras
As cheesy as it sounds, I'd like to see if there's a story behind scion, skillborrower and the scarecrow edh 5 color general.
People need to submit stuff, whether its art or stories. I need the community gives all post there. But I'll try posting things there

Well Scion is the embodiment of all five Primeval Dragons. So when they died, their essence created one dragon with a combined consciousness of all five dragon. That is Scion. So he does have a story, its just super unofficial. If you like the planar dragons you should check out some of the featured threads. Check out My Teneb list in my signature below. Cheers!!
this deserves more attention. I feel like the modern and more hyped EDH nowadays could learn a lot of those old "underpowered" generals. It is just so much fun to play with some of those - like the format was intendet in the first place. Its the format where you play the slow, unplayable esewhere cards and and don't need to generate value with every card and win within a few turns. For me creatures like those Dragons, big, slow and flashy, embody what made this format great to begin with!
A bit of a necro, but I remember reading this years ago and it's still a fun read.
I've ran Crosis as a commander on&off for a very long time. The floppy dragon is my 3rd favorite grixis commander (first being Gwendlyn Di Corci and second Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge. I've pushed Crosis as a superfriends commander, voltron beater, discard & reanimator, miller, and as of the most recent few years it's piloted a mnemonic betrayal twister loops style of deck (an outdated decklist).
White and green are the two colors I play the least, as I'm a bit of a mono-res/rakdoa/grixis fan, but there is always a growing collection of cards that I find hard to part with, so I've actually maintained a Treva deck for some time as well, which is more or less a cesspool of foils and promo cards. It's everything I hate about the power of green/blue/x decks in this format, but I like the cards and don't see myself getting rid of them, so it's easier to just stuff them in sleeves.
I'm also known for typically adding a 6cmc legendary dragon as "alternate" commander to a bunch of my decks (currently Dromar in an Alela dramatic scepter deck, Rorix Bladewing in a Pia artifact deck, Dragonlord Kolaghan in an exava voltron deck, Ramos in a golos deck, Oros + an extra land for my Trynn+Silvar deck, Kukusho in my Gonti deck, and Keiga for my Braids deck).
It's just a random thing I do just in case I end up playing with a table that may have slightly less powerful decks, so I can opt for a more casual experiance.
