I'd be glad too. I don't have any experience with Rith, but I'd be glad to offer any help I can. Once you post it, you might shoot me a pm in case I miss it.
There is a budget "tuck" spell that I find to be a staple in any white deck I build, as well as in my metagame: Oblation. Might be worth putting in the Tuck effects section.

You're right, it should be in. I have to run now, but I'll be updating this sometime in the next day or so and I'll include that.
Blackjack, I love this guide, thanks for making it, I've referred a few friends to it. Question... how do you feel about adding a small piece giving the newbies an idea of which generals are considered the most cutthroat? A friend of mine sat down to his first EDH game last night on cockatrice, and when he plunked Arcum Daggson down, the other players ragequit. I had to explain to him why they did that, and he said, "wow, there are a lot of unspoken rules in Commander". lol. Anyway, something to consider.

Yeah, maybe I should work up a section about "drawing hate" and "unwritten rules". I'll start working on it.
Just as a heads up, I think you should write down next to Jenara something similar to what you wrote about Sygg, River Guide. I've seen every strategy viable with her, and unlike Rafiq, she's not necessarily best as a voltron general. And if you read ISBPathfinder's primer on Jenara, you'll see what I mean.
The most basic control build: Lands (Good utility lands, fetches if need be, recursion lands), ramp, card draw, removal, tutors, land destruction and a few win conditions.
This build fits the for combo, Stax, Lock out decks, and Goodstuff.dec.
I'm not an aggro player, so I couldn't help you there.
Updated to include Clanmackay's awesomeland/mana chooser, put Oblation in the tuck effects and a rewrote the Jenara description, and a few more little tweaks.

Thanks for changing that, and congrats on the sticky (that sounds so weird lol)!
Macius commented on my helpdesk that this deserved a sticky, and I have to say, it probably does. The more people that see this, the better, and my goal of keeping stickies to an absolute minimum never really came about anyway. So there you go.

hey, whenever i go play edh, i always carry a printed copy of this primer for players to read. I wish i had come across this in my first foray into edh, would of made my life easier now that i think about it. I honestly believe that everyone, new players and experienced players who want to or play edh should read this and learn from it. It is a resource that exists for the sole reason to help make all of us better deckbuilders.
Excellent read! As a fairly new EDH player, I must say that this has helped a lot.
while i dont condone the practice, mock up one of blackjacks deck to see his principles in action. It may not be as big and splashy as other decks, but the consistency is tier one to tier SSS
I have recently put together this guide to Black tutors that may be helpful for deck builders. I am also working on putting together a guide for all tutors but this was the first "test" primer to see if the time/effort would be worth it.
Couple of small things I would add:
- A note on self-exiling cards. I personally loathe anything that forces me to exile my own stuff (latest example would be something like Moldgraf Monstrosity or almost anything with flashback). I understand the card advantage that can come with the word "flashback", but I'd still rather leave my stuff in the yard and hope to get it back forrealz.
- Solemn Simulacrum should be in the "universally good" list with Sol Ring and Top and the like. He's just never a bad play.
Hey blackjack, I was curious if you might be willing to put a link to the Everything Token resource in the guide somewhere. I have a large card selection guide as well as a commander selection guide. This is purely a request from another user though. By all means you can say no if you dont want to. I just thought it might be a nice fit in your section where you talk about "Choosing a play style" under the token section.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Doin a quick check-in.... no time at all for the last 3 months, but I'll be back in action in about another month. As soon as I get some time, I'll take care of those ^^ two things (ISB and Nico).
I'd love to see a small note under the 'green' part of 'choosing a color' that makes note of Green's ability to search out ANY land, much like Expedition map:
Into the North can grab snow covered basic lands, Scrying Sheets (filtering draw step), and mouth of ronom (removal). It also grabs Coldsnap's cycle of ETB tapped 'duals'.
Sylvan scrying, crop rotation, and reap and sow can also grab any land out of your deck. In the case of Crop Rotation, at instant speed. Try it with glacial chasm sometime as an emergency method to avoid death by damage.
