So if I were to say "you're a complete douchebag who has his head up his ass so far he's using his own eyeballs as glasses," you'd simply shrug it off?

most expensive card ATM is a mint condition revised Underground Sea, and whatever deck it goes in is usually the most expensive since it has blue in it.
I think my most expensive deck now is probably Kaalia. Altered Avacyn, foil Gisela, some other money cards like Thundermaw and Liliana 2.0, with the biggest $$$ card being my mint Revised Plateau.
The most valuable card I own is probably Elspeth, Knight Errant from the Elspeth vs. Tezzeret dual deck whihc was a present. Because of that, Brion Stoutarm is probably my most valuable deck. Probably in the $150 range. Even that makes me wince to think about it.
I would guess my entire collection is probably worth about $1000. I try not to think about that too much because it makes me feel like I should just give up the game and sell the lot.
My most expensive deck is also my only EDH deck so far and that is my Arcades Sabboth token deck, which is around 80-90 dollars. My most expensive card is my 4th edition sylvan library.
Most expensive EDH deck I own is my Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind deck. it totals out on SCG values at $1095.96 (with basics at a penny). The most expensive card in the deck is a full 33% of the deck's value, being a Timetwister. I would love to fully pimp this deck out, but, it's current value right now is already absurd, not sure if I could really justify getting a Beta dual land, beta timetwister, a bunch of really expensive judge foils, or the extended art Niv-Mizzet that is currently around $150 :/
I would guess my entire collection is probably worth about $1000. I try not to think about that too much because it makes me feel like I should just give up the game and sell the lot.
Why? Hobbies people stick with tend to become something of an investment. Look at what a set of golf clubs costs. Now look at what you pay for membership fees, greens fees and so forth. People who cook a lot buy lots of ingredients. A good knife set costs more than all but a few of the most expensive cards (my knife set costs quite a bit more than my most expensive card, Moat), and a truly good set of pans can cost a lot more than that. Hell, look at how much you can spend on something like Warhammer.
People do need to spend within their means, and there certainly are times one should sell pricey belongings to take care of other priorities. I sold a very, very good comic collection, including complete or near-complete of most of the major silver-age Marvel books and long silver age runs of most of the better DC books, to put myself through college without a bunch of loans, and I sold the rest of my comic collection - including complete runs of X-MEN and some excellent-condition golden age books I'd put a lot of time and effort into getting - to pay off loans after grad school. But it's also okay for people to put some money into the things they enjoy. For some people that might be a fishing boat, or excellent photography equipment. For someone else, it's MtG. All are equally legit.
after having seen the other side i am now actually trying to unpimp my deck. i often give away cards in decent shape in exchange for those in terrible condition. i am almost to the point where i am going to take them out of the sleeves and riffle shuffles the bastards up each game. well, i would if i didn't have the bent in half mana drain...
I've tried to convince you to sleeveless raw dog shuffle a few times.

It surprises me how many of the posters in this thread are fairly budget. I definitely fall under that category, although my deck is worth more than I initially thought. I ran the list through TCGPlayer and it gave me around $88, which surprised me. My most expensive card would be my full art Cryptic Command, which was a gift from a friend.

I also have the CA kaalia as well as a altered/fullart kaalia I consider priceless, I've been working on my deck since heavenly inferno was released, I'm planning on foiling it out as much as possible which will jack up theprice ALOT more, what can I say.... I likes me some shiny stuff
My Peasant Mikaeus MBC is worth around $25 the most expensive card in it is probably Sensei's Divining Top.

The most expensive card I actually shelled out money for is my foil DvD Akroma.
