As for Mishra, you're absolutely right, but for some silly reason people like to make gimmicky decks around the fringe effects of his ability, like recurring shuffles, and in the fashion of yankee doodle call themselves creative for sticking the proverbial feather in their macaroni hats.
Mishra allows you to search your graveyard for a card with the same name. That means if your artifact spell is countered before Mishra's trigger resolves, you can put your artifact into play from the 'yard. That means that Blood Funnel makes your artifacts cheaper without needing to sacrifice creatures, and Nether Void becomes one-sided. On-demand shuffling (for Top, etc.) is just icing on the combo cake.

I dont quite follow the stacking on using Mishra. Wouldnt the stack have to resolve before it hits the graveyard.

Esper allows for utterly amazing synergies and strength, but after getting tired of my Bosh deck's inability, I'd say I'm leaning more towards Karn (and colorless) at the moment. Colorless manabase is just whole hog. And Karn is a legend of Legends.

Assume Mishra and Blood Funnel/Nether Void is in play (there are other cards you can use, but these two are the best)
When you cast an artifact, let's say Sol Ring, both Mishra and Nether Void trigger. Since you control both, you choose what order the two triggers are put onto the stack. Put Nether Void on the stack last, and you get the following:
<TOP>
3. Nether Void trigger
2. Mishra trigger (card named "Sol Ring")
1. Sol Ring
<BOTTOM>
The Nether Void trigger resolves, and you must either pay or Sol Ring will be countered. Let Sol Ring be countered and it goes to the graveyard, leaving:
<TOP>
1. Mishra trigger (card named "Sol Ring")
<BOTTOM>
Now Mishra's trigger resolves and you get to search your hand, library, and/or graveyard for a card named "Sol Ring". As this is a singleton format and you just cast your only Sol Ring, there is no card named Sol Ring in your library or hand. But if you search your graveyard, there's a Sol Ring that was just put there when it was countered by Nether Void. Mishra puts that Sol Ring into play under your control.
You just cast an artifact under Nether Void without paying any extra mana, and (barring exile effects like Disperse or Faerie Trickery; or Stifleing Mishra's trigger) your opponent couldn't counter it. Now your opponent still has to deal with the increased mana cost to all his spells, but you don't have to worry about it for your artifacts. Alternatively, with Blood Funnel, you just cast Sol Ring for without having to sacrifice a creature.
Real men play artifact commander decks with Karn, Silver Golem as their commander.
I'm building a Karn deck right now (still need 30 cards... I only started a couple days ago), but I cringe whenever I look at the price on Mishra's Workshop. I'm pretty sure my entire mono-W deck costs less than that single land.
That said, I reserved a FTV: Realms before I started working on the deck, and there happen to be several lands in it that I still need.

I would buy this T-shirt.
Ah. Beat me to it. Gonna build Muzzio soon... Looks to be a ton of fun
But... To answer the original question. Blue would be the color of choice for an artifact deck
