I voted krenko because hes fun and reps the goblins better but the G/R Wort is a really good deck if your just looking to play a goblin but not a good deck for goblins
Toss-up between Wort, Boggart Auntie and Krenko, the former getting my vote.
Wort has a slew of advantages due to being multicolored, as 2+ color decks are much more versatile and powerful than mono-colored, and Wort provides some great recursion that Krenko cannot.

That said Krenko is no slouch.
Wort is also slightly less threatening upfront and allows for a long game plan. In addition you can run Krenko (and every good goblin except vexing shusher) in wort but you can't run Wort in Krenko. Adding black is pretty badass as well.
I voted for Krenko ('cause I love me some mono-red), but I actually wouldn't use him.
I've been thinking about getting a Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper to use as a commander for a goblin deck. Yeah, he's not a goblin himself, but he's in the colors that, if I'm correct, can have any goblin in the deck. Even if someone used Wort, Boggart Auntie, as good as the commander is, you're missing out on some R/G goblins. Vexing Shusher for a great example.
And, of course, you can just put all of the other legendaries in your 99 too.
Raidmother is the best overall general. It helps to always have a creature that I'm always willing to cast when I get to 6. Double or quadruple Plow Under is just too insane.

Are you saying you would conspire Plow Under more than once? My understanding was you could only conspire once, not as many times as you wished.
B/R Wort recursion is head and shoulders above Krenko. The local Krenko player wishes he had the black gobbos and other black staples required to play Auntie Wort. He would switch in a flash.

While that may be true of this person we don't know, it's not true of all Krenkno players. As a former Wort player, I find Krenko fast, entertaining, and can win games out of nowhere. Wort is a solid general, but it's not like we're comparing her to Slobad (i.e. she's not "that" much better).

Wort, Boggart Auntie. She lets you play Black, which lets you play the long game with card advantage and tutors, gives you some nice additional goblins like Murderous Redcap, and gives you more combos. She allows you much more stability against removal. She lets you play Krenko in her deck, only Krenko now has the benefit of cheap recursion.
Krenko is not as good in a format full of sweepers and point removal.
Kiki-Jiki is pretty amazing, but he doesn't really lend himself to Goblin tribal as much. Same with Wort, the Raidmother. Also, I have bias because I have an Auntie deck, and it's a blast to play.

The wedding is over. Now it's time for the honeymoon.
Wort, Boggart Auntie. She lets you play Black, which lets you play the long game with card advantage and tutors, gives you some nice additional goblins like Murderous Redcap, and gives you more combos.
As most people said they all have their upsides.
For my sort of janky I love goblin tribal deck I run bogart auntie. It gives me sudo card advantage which is important in EDH. Also allows for some fun things like recurring goblin rune blaster.
Kiki-jiki can make a very competitive deck but it's not a goblin deck it's something else.
Crenco is probably the best goblin tribal Commander. Get him out give him haste go nuts.
Raid mother is very like Kiki jiki in that can make a really good deck but isn't really a goblin deck.
Ib is just awesome and you can't go wrong with the Wayne Reynolds art. But is in my opinion even more janky then auntie.
So recently I've been a rut of what to build next. I have an actual deck and I flop through many other decks never seeming to be happy. I have a very Controlish Damia deck and I want something different in comparison. So I would like to build a tribal deck. And I thought GOBLINS!
Now all this has caused some discussion with a friend of mine who is the best Goblin to use a general. And with that brings to the point. Which Wort is a better General? Or is it something of Mono Red?
Or do you think a Elf or Merfolk Tribal is better?
Okay so I see tons of input here, but I have to give my two cents.
First off, background:
I’m a huge goblin fan!! I currently run two goblin-themed EDH decks, Krenko and Wort, Boggart Auntie. I also run a pauper goblin deck, for a long time I ran a kitchen-table 60 card goblin deck, and I have plans currently for a Wort the Raidmother deck!
My input is as follows:
IF you want to run tribal goblins, play Krenko. He’s ridiculously fast and fun, and flinging tons of Goblins at people is pure delight. I beat a 4 man table at SCGCon on turn 5 with Krenko against Bennie Smith, which was quite entertaining.
Now, if you are looking beyond pure tribal, I would recommend Wort, Boggart Auntie or Wort the Raidmother.
My Auntie deck started off as goblin combo (which was AWESOME), using tutors to grab Kiki and a combo piece or Krenko and an untapper to then combo off and win, which was a fun deck! The problem with that, however, was that to really run it smoothly I had to incorporate tons of tutors into the deck, which was just too expensive. SO... now it’s Wort Aristocrats! This is now tons of fun, but it requires being slightly less tribal than you seem to want to be (can you say Conspiracy?). The problem with running Wort as straight tribal is that you can only get one goblin per turn. And yes, you do get some other really fantastic goblins like Earwig Squad, but that’s honestly not enough to make her work. Auntie is fun, but as straight goblin tribal she doesn’t have the speed that Krenko does, and returning one goblin per turn is honestly just not powerful enough on its own to balance out the speed drop. Krenko, on the other hand, is a powerhouse that lets you always have access to the most powerful goblin in magic.
Raidmother is tons of fun (from my build i’m Looking at), but it also needs some non-goblin creatures if you really want to take advantage of having green by copying ramp spells and the like. It’s a primarily goblin with other green tokens thrown in deck. It does allow you doubling season and parallel lives, which is huge, but honestly it still won’t be as fast as Krenko, even once it gets as explosive.
As for Ib, he’s meh. I’ve almost taken him out of Krenko.
Kiki-Jiki is ridiculous, but he again won’t be straight tribal, because Kiki wins by combos, and he does that best with Combat Celebrant or Zealous Conscripts, neither of which fits your goal for goblin tribal. Also, you can’t tutor for them in mono red.
All in all, Krenko is your best bet, you get access to all the best goblins still, and he’s the most explosive.
How DO you people keep finding 7 year old threads and still think the discussion is ongoing? Please, enlighten me.

This necro looks more legitimate than others, but my theory is that someone keeps making new profiles to necro threads to troll us. Many of the necros are to say things like "I agree" which is so not a reason to make a brand new profile.
I think it's Google. I tried once to Google something like 'firemind v dracogenius' and when I got it, it had an interesting debate. I read it all and responded, not noticing the date stamp. A mod told me off for necroing threads and said I should start a new one.
MTG salvation is rather unique in its rules. Most forums will give you infraction for not checking first and starting a new thread. Here it's the opposite. I think most People just Google and either don't notice or think they are doing the correct thing but continuing discussion rather than spamming threads.
It seems like, if your goal was to stop necros, you could add some feature that prevents anyone from posting on a thread that hasn't had any traffic in over a year, unless you've previously posted on it yourself. That was people could refresh their old decks if they want to, without allowing for this kind of pointless necroing.
On the other hand, when someone necros one my old decks I sometimes enjoy talking about my old stuff. But of course in most cases the OP has long since stopped paying attention.
In my opinion, the best general to lead a goblin tribal deck is either Krenko, Mob Boss (for more combo-oriented shenanigans) or Wort, Boggart Auntie (for more beatdown/synergy type of decks). I run Boggart Auntie because I like the access to black and being able to have a way that helps recover post-Wrath in your Command zone is a nice feature.
However, the "best" card that you can play as a Commander that has the Goblin creature type is Wort, the Raidmother. The decks you build with her are completely different that most Goblin decks so the creature type rarely matters, but RG Wort is one of the more fun decks that I have (and one of the only ones where I permit myself to run infinite and near-infinite combos).

Necros can be annoying but we also don't want to chase people off because of them which is why mods usually don't do anything but lock them. This one spun up valid discussion after being necroed and most of the thread was still valid in that not many other tribal goblins have been created since this thread.

More importantly, Din of the Fireherd. Its soooooo good in goblins.
I actually didn't have that in my Wort deck. Thanks for the tip!
