So, I'm very soon going to be building a GRU deck; the issue being it will focus very strongly on one specific artifact. I need to get it out and protect it very well.
Getting it out, I think I have down. Between Gamble, Fabricate, Tezzeret, Reshape, and (if I can get one) transmute artifact... I think I can find it.
Once it's out though, I need it to stay out. Obviously blue can give some counter magic to this fight, but I'd like some proactive cards to protect it.
So, how to keep around an Artifact in GRU? Especially since most of the protection lies in white, sadly.
Academy Ruins and friends should be enough to cover it - LftL, Crucible, Intuition, Petrified Field, Buried Ruin... people should run out of artifact removal eventually. Phyrexia's Core if you're very worried about effects that exile artifacts.
Sounds like a fun idea. Any specific shenanigans you're trying to pull off?
For the main part, a massive Riku army, utilizing almost every clone effect imaginable.
Lot's of Rikus also means lots of copy triggers, so various overrun effects get sick.
Finally, some other creatures that work well in multiples, typically by pumping each other. Brothers Yamazaki is a must, Balthor the Stout and Kaysa are possibilities for the funnies, Hellrider though non legendary should be fun, Stangg would also be hilarious.
It's something I've been meaning to do for a while now, got my Mirror Gallery last week, and discovered recently that I actually do have a Vesuvan Doppelganger, so I'm all out of excuses for not having this done.
Short of counterspell? No. They would force me to actually Clone good things. Like their General. Repeatedly.
Right now the deck is shaping up to be about 8-10 counterspells, A bunch of utility artifacts, all the clones/clone spells, about 10 ramp spells, and 5-6 other fun creatures to copy, and about 2-4 overrun effects. I have a bit of building leeway still. I'm thinking the Flash Leyline and Vedalken Orrery will both be good as well. Crystal Shard and Erratic Portal are in as well, so I can bounce an actual clone creature and replay it for even more cloned tokens. Oh, and Doubling Season/Parallel Lives, obviously. A few Mana Reflection effects as well.

Is there a good way to animate enchantments?
Copying Hondens would be kinda funny.

Copying Hondens is easy. Just use Copy Enchantment. Animating them? Not unless you can somehow generate white mana...
Well, Lattice + March will do it... I just won't have much left afterwards. =P
I know copy enchantment works, but that just gives me one copy, for the Hondens to be worth it, I'd need a lot more. If I can drop them in as creatures, Riku can copy them for me, and save me the bother.
I think they'd be too much trouble overall though. I'm going to stick to plan A. It's going to be enough trouble getting that to work...

Building silly decks for silly games.

I draft and play EDH. If a Standard player can't understand who a card is for, it's probably for me.
I also write things about good films.
...such as Into the Core? Wait...that doesn't seem right...

Titania's Song and March of the Machines would work. Kira, Great Glass Spinner protects it as well. Why don't you just copy it with Phyrexian Metamorph, Mizzium Transreliquat or Sculpting Steal?
I plan to, among other things. With march, I can also copy it with Riku, which should help.
Either way, making the deck depend on this card will make it rather fragile, but I'm hoping to combat that as efficiently as possible.

I posted a few of the ideas I had in this thread: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=390194

Muscle Sliver and Might Sliver are also good. Elvish Archdruid and Imperious Perfect could get silly.

Counter magic is tech.
Also, Riftsweeper.
I have to be honest- I was hoping it was Isochron Scepter
