So I was just curious what people's thoughts were about Wishs and Wish Boards. Everyone gets a ten card SB but rarely do I see people utilize it. Adding a wish to your deck gives you access to ten additional cards that wouldnt make your original 99 because they might be too narrow or situational. However the beauty of the wishboard is that these cards should be narrow and called upon in a serious pinch.
Me and my playgroup try to incorporate wishes into many decks to flesh out our options, however some playgroups we've encountered find this type of play sour. I feel its perfectly fine, what are your thoughts?
If your meta does not allow for sideboarding then they generally speaking also do not allow Wishboards.
Wishboards are optional and given the option most metas do not allow them. Personally I sort of like the idea but my own meta wont allow me to use one. I think there are a lot of situational cards that you either dont want in a normal game or need to pick up additional utility of such as graveyard hate.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
A couple of people at my LGS set up a competitive EDH league. The only people i know that uses an Sideboard in EDH is them.
In my playgroup, the sideboard in edh has always been something that the competitive people do and is frowned upon by the casual players. EDH is a casual format, which i refuse to play competitively.
Captain Sisay has gotten great mileage out of Glittering Wish for me. In my opinion, Wishes should always be allowed in EDH. If your playgroup disagrees, I'd be curious to hear their reasoning. I can understand if you blindside an opponent with a wish for a game winner, but it seems against the spirit of the format to restrict someone from using a wish, even if you don't want to use the full set of side boarding rules.
Wishes are legal according to mtgcommander.net, on another note. If the RC didn't want people playing with the wishes except when they were using the sideboard rules, they would be banned under the normal banlist, and the optional sideboard variant would re-allow them.
The problem with wishboards/sideboards is people that want to use them never have good intentions. They are just trying to make 110 card decks with hoser spells without risking a dead draw. I am with sheldon on this one. I always say no. And the rules are clear it is a group decision so if they don't agree to it you can't use it.
I consider myself to be a casual EDH player and I run wishes in three of my decks. At first my group wasn't planning on letting me use them. But after a couple of other guys came in with wish boards I convinced them to allow it. Long story short I think they are awesome.
Consider that wishes allow you to run more FUN cards because they move some niche answers to the sideboard. ie: you may be able to get away with a single enchantment removal card when you can wish for more if need arises.
I run living wish in my green deck due to a older member of my playgroup suggesting it. And before I start a game I ask everybody if it's ok with them and if they want to see it. I doubt will do another wishboard because it's unnecessary and I'm strongly considering taking it out of my green deck for regrowth.
My playgroups/stores use wishes, I run Cunning Wish in my Oona, Queen of the Fae list and i dont run any serious hosers like Hydroblast but i actually use it to run cards that i didn't have room for in my 99! I run some bounce, counter, kill spells that i would have put in my maindeck if i could and the playgroup approves them because im usually answering something for the whole table!!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that i always check with a new group before i sit down with my deck and if its not okay with them then i will switch C.wish with Wipe Away , i wouldn't mind doing that in the slightest.
I feel as though a wish can't really be broken. Even if you get some hosing card, its just one card. There are way more annoying infinite combos and stupid locks for people to complain about rather than this. In my Ghave BGW deck i use living wish, and my SB contains things like gaddok teeg, vampire hexmage, scavaging ooze, and shreikmaw. Playing a shreikmaw from the board isn't going to warp the game, but its good removal in a pinch.
I'd be perfectly fine with wishboards, and to be honest I haven't found a good argument against them other than blanket statements ("generally speaking..."), or re-assertion of the rules ("It's a 100 card format!!!!").
Wish boards are fine. If someone doesn't like them, take your wishes out and board in cards before you start the game. Nobody in their right mind would whine about that.
I really don't like them. They just seem sloppy. An EDH deck should be a self-contained entity, designed to cope with a wide open metagame. While I understand the rationale of having a suite of specific answers you can call on to deal with corner cases, the problem is that if you allow them then the corner case decks can use them, too. What's more, those decks are far, far more likely to use them degenerately than your average deck. I say stick to 99 - restriction breeds creativity, after all.

Yeah i'm in the same boat. The only reason why i don't use em is because its too much work for me to worry about it... I haven't seen to many people use them though.
I like them, and I occasionally use one with my Ring of Ma'Ruf. But although my meta doesn't mind, I think I'm the only one that actually uses it on occasion.
I use wishes in two of my decks, albeit not in game winning ways, just for answers. I understand that many would view 110 cards as against the format, but if you think about it 10 cards is already less than 15, so it has been modified to have less impact and quite often it's easier to just have the card you need in your deck. Wishes allow you to adapt, but most frequently you wouldn't use them as a crutch to win given how limited most of them are (Death Wish and Glittering Wish excluded).
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.

Those who like EDH as a casual friendly game tend to not want wishboards.
Obviously this does not apply in every situation but in my experience that tends to be where the topic lands.
