use a numbered 6-sided die alongside a 12-side die for your life total (if u don't use life counters, that is). very easy for everyone to read.
also, play what you love, and love what you play.

Piss yourself when your combo pans out. This usually comes after drinking beers.
@ Donald and bccarlso: These are musts. Etiquette and hygiene will go a long way to getting invited back to play. As will showing others respect. It's funny how these aren't common knowledge, no?

I actually start shaking in games like this or DOTA equivalents when I absolutely control the board or am about to do something wacky to win the game.
Don't take things too seriously. Have fun, play cards you love, win gracefully, lose gracefully, enjoy time spent with good friends.

I'm usually a great bluffer and I know how to read people well, but there's something about Magic that makes me really giddy when I'm about to do something nuts. I think it's because unlike other games, I designed the situation that I'm about to do, so it's an expression of my own creativity that I am overeager to share.
3: don't play hate cards for the sake of hating. don't slip tsunami into your deck when I told the table I'm playing thada adel. I saw you do that, nick, not cool, man.
4: do not put your land into deck-like piles. I like to see if you have untapped kor havens before I attack into your blockers.
Don't be an ass. Win and lose gracefully. From a gameplay perspective, I think Teddy Roosevelt said it best: Speak softly, and carry a large stick. Politick, but with scary threats to back it up. Most of all, have fun. And try not to kill your friends.

Or maybe it's because I'm in good company.
lol it is so true! I think this is more of a what to do when interacting socially with other people requirement than a specific EDH one though.

This is a valid strategy. They're always going to be reading your stuff. "Oo, what's that." "Never seen that." "What's that do?"
Once they start saying the last one, they've given up reading. Then play the rest of your combo.
