I stopped reading after the first page (I'll go back later... ) but I would TOTALLY be down for this. It's an oddly enchanting idea. Although it was discussed on page 1, cockatrice is just a little more practical BUT it does eliminate people who just make decks on **** and not actually own then AND it gives us a reason to use our dusty decks!
But for multiplayer, cockatrice just seems simpler.
As for Proxies... I'd hope that no more than a small percentage is proxy'd otherwise, why even play on skype? Just go on over to cockatrice.
Also, I DEMAND nice looking proxies! Whip out that acetone, painters tape, cotton swabs and some sharpies!!!
I'll show one of my favorites I have as a place holder later.
For everyone wanting to join in now, w have a skype group going on for it, it only has 6 people in it right now but it's basically like an IM convo where we set up matches and talk about cards and such, I'll try to remember to add anyone who adds me through this to the conversation.

What you missed in the pages you neglected to read was the realization that webcam games wouldn't work for multiplayer due to Skype restrictions (not allowing webcam chat for more than two people), and that most people agreed that Cockatrice would be easier to set up and run, which I'm pretty sure was the consensus on how we're going to do this.
Also, did someone say nice looking proxies? [Awh shoot, I'm at school without access to pictures of my proxies. Augh!]

Google+ is open to the public now (I'm pretty sure, it's open to me), and they have multi-chat capabilities.
I would love to do something like this, but unfortunately my sound only works 50% of the time, so this is not a realistic option for me. I have, however, played Magic with my girlfriend on Skype a couple of times, and it is not only possible but is super awesome.
Very intense, that link is pretty amazing. How do you do art over foils? Seems like you'd have to do some kind of printing rather than acryllics?
Yessir. I use Avery Window Decals for Inkjet Printers (available at Staples), print directly onto them, peel off the backing, and stick them right on the blank foil (wiped clean with acetone).
It has come to my attention that, due to the large number of people in the Skype group, the amount of notifications can be overwhelming and, most of all, annoying.
Not many people know that you can turn notifications off! See pictures below.
Hi everyone and sorry for necroing this thread, but I see that there are occasional Spikes of interest towards MTG over Skype, so I would like to now if anyone is still interested in playing. My Skype ID is philshary.

YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT THEY DID!
In the world of acetone proxies, that's probably up there. But in terms of just "proxies" I'm sure I'm beat.
Gaddamnit, I'm back at school again and forgot to link my proxies AGAIN. Very nice Grim Monolith, though.
The art is not mine. A player at my shop did it for me on a request and I think he kinda enjoyed the challenge and work. I think I owe him one.
I have some Wurmcoil tokens done in the same format but, my own art that I should post next.
You want to see originality? Check out Link, Ship's Navigator (proxy of my old old EDH general, Hanna, Ship's Navigator):
The Wurmcoil is super crummy. Those were the first two proxies I had ever done. Now they look something like this:

The last two didn't get resized so they're much too big to insert.
