Mycosynth Lattice. Is this card worth trying to use outside of a dumb combo capacity? I'm seriously considering putting it in mono-red in order to more efficiently deal with problematic permanents I wouldn't ordinarily be able to touch (except with Spine and Hellkite of Wrecks Face). Too cute?
I think with any symmetric card, you need to find consistent ways to ensure it will benefit you more than your opponents. For example, Blood Moon won't hurt you in mono-red like it will any opponent playing any other colour(s).
I run Mycosynth Lattice in my Sliver Overlord deck. I use it there because sometimes the 5-colour requirements are tough to deal with. In fact, Mycosynth Lattice is an answer to the previously mentioned Blood Moon. Besides mana-fixing (which should benefit my 5-colour deck more than a 1-3 colour deck), Mycosynth Lattice combos with Harmonic Sliver (tutorable via my commander) and Memnarch (which I run for lulz along with its sliver-related tutor, Vedalken AEthermage).
I'm usually hesitant about using it because it gives my opponents the same advantages I get and I find more often than not they can use it to greater effect. On the plus side Memnarch, shatter spree and other artifact haters are now brilliant!
Lattice doesn't let you use off-colour spells in Commander because there's a replacement effect that states if you would generate mana outside of your commander's colour identity, it produces colourless mana instead.

You're right, you can't generate any mana outside of your commander's color identity, but that doesn't mean that Lattice doesn't work. Lattice allows you to use any of your appropriately colored mana as if it were any color. You're not generating off-color mana, just using it as if it were.
I run mycosynth in my Arcum deck and i plan on running it in my Karn deck. The thing is with Karn i use all is dust. Though in the long run i think Mycosynth would be more beneficial as I also use darksteel forge.
That is originally why i wasn't playing lattice. But I figure its two answers, either all is dust them or lattice then use karn to turn their lands into creatures. I use a similar combo in My arcum deck. But i use latice, march of the machines and a card that gives all my creatures +1/+1. so their lands die and mine don't.
basically though it comes to which one i draw first. And Darksteel forge also works with lattice making EVERYTHING i play indestructible. I have lands and 4 eldrazi. only one of those eldrazi is indestructible.
I use Mycosynth Lattice in my Esper artifact deck to great effect. Lattice makes anything that cares about artifacts nuts. You can drop this card and literally Tezzeret someone out of the game. It makes Cranial Plating on Sharuum lethal general damage. And as someone said, it makes Mycosynth Golem then all your artifact creatures cost 0.
Or you can just be douchey and play something like Karn, Silver Golem. "1: Destroy target land." is fair, right? Then of course there's March of the Machines. No one gets to have any land. Ever.
Well, if you can build a board position or design a list which casts spells by means other than mana or just have a lot of upkeep triggers, you can use lattice with stony silence to lock out everything. Everything, including lands are artifacts and artifact abilties can't be activated. No one gets mana, and then you just combo off.
Heh, that's amusing. That just stops the game cold.
Does it? I know it makes all permanents artifacts, but artifacts can have colors, can they not, as long as they have colored symbols in their casting cost.
I know the stupid combo is with Stony Silence, which is a dick move, IMO, and an instant scoop for me. ("Congratulations, you win. Did you get any satisfaction from that victory?")
For a non-lock-down use, it could be used to:
1) facilitate metalcraft
2) make all your opponent's permanents valid targets for artifact destruction
3) make all your permanents in your graveyard valid targets for Glissa, The Traitor to return to your hand

Are Hellkite Igniter, Hoard-Smelter Dragon, and some artifact hate enough for you to significantly benefit from Mycosynth Lattice?

Building silly decks for silly games.
Curses! You beat me to it! It's one of the few cards that lets you play off color spells in EDH.
Also great if you have a Kukemssa Pirates, arrrgh!

Lattice makes all permanents colorless. All Is Dust only blows up colored things. Bit of a nombo, assuming you want to blow stuff up.

Indeed. Although in my Bosh deck, when he hits the field all my artifacts cost zero mano or close to it already, without the Lattice. Mycosynth Lattice becomes insane in my deck when cards like Kuldotha Forgemaster, Goblin Welder, Viashino Heretic, Shattering Pulse, and, of course Karn, Silver Golem are in play. Karn is such a beast. Unwinding Clock is pretty boss as well.
Agreed, however wizards has not printed a card that mends damaged friendships XD.

That doesn't work, lattice only make permanents artifacts. Spells and Cards in other zones are not artifacts.
