I'm sorry to plug myself but i totally disagree with regards to 5C decks just being goodstuff.
Someone at my local has a 5C Korna/Plansewalker/Aggro deck and i myself run Reaper King, the most underrated 5c General (Rite of Replication combos hard, Maelstrom Nexus synergy is amazing...boh yah!). Not to mention the typical Sciron and Horde of Notion decks ...
All of these decks run a tribal theme or are themed. Dragons, elementals, plansewalkers, vindicate deck. I've never seen a goodstuff 5c deck.

Given up magic because a)its a waste of money b)it sucks the joy out of life c)im doing more interesting things than tapping pieces of plastic that have no intrinsic value.
I encourage you to do the same. Instead of FNM try Friday Night Something Spontaneous. Instead of thousands of hours and dollars on plastic imagine it with a significant other or friends sharing something meaningful. I randomly typed a new password, so bon voyage itches i encourage you to follow suit! Cheers
Mainly I experience the issue of some decks using "place holder" generals for the 5 color tribal of something like a 5 color angel deck where there is no 5 color tribal general. Dragons really are lucky to have scion. Slivers have several eligible generals. I think Progenitus can be a good general for an eldrazi theme deck. Cromat is a good 5 color control general, child is too. I hope we get a 5 color general set from wizards for the commander decks next year.
Most 5c I see are tribal or highly themed like super friends or mono indestructible. I guess you could say that the latter two are examples of people using the commander almost exclusively for the 5c access but I wouldn't say that they were good stuff decks.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.

Yo, serious question, always wanted to know this. How did you find this topic, and once you did find it, how did you not see it hasn't seen posts in almost 6 years time?

I usually assume google and new user respectively. Search for something, forum thread pops up, you have something to say, so you make an account and post. If you're not a forum regular, it's easy to miss the time stamp.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.
I run scion of the ur dragon. I can 100% say that my deck is useless without my commander. Ive only had it for about half a year, and it has a reputation for being brutal. The idea came from a draconic domination upgrade list on mtgoldfish. I've never played another 5c deck, but I think the idea of decks that don't use their commander forgets the purpose of the whole format.
I personally like 5c decks though, and have plans to build a at least 2 more that use their commander.
i would sya it is split right down the middle. For example, Scion of the Ur-dragon is usually if not always combo central. Slivers are good swarm deck and while Overlord is most commonly use one, Queen is another combo one. Hivelord is also good but not top tier.
You have aother good stuff deck and you can have 5 color that are known for being god but instead may be used strictly for teh colors.
I an running The Ur-Dragon Dragon swarm which is actually pretty good. and then I also have Ramos, Dragon Engine Superfriends. Ramos is being used for colors while ur-dragon is having fun beating a beat-down god (What i also love about my general is that the deck is not dependent on him at all. Nice to cast but i don;t need to. It is nice to have a deck that can win without your general being cast)
i think i've only ever seen 2 5c decks in my meta. child of alara lands build, and a sliver queen sliver-tribal. They're not really goodstuff decks at all.
I've yet to see another deck use Worthy Cause for example even in mono-white.

It would also be legit to start a new thread instead of dredging up a thread from five years ago.
