first can a player meddling mage another player's general? and second, do we start play with the generals revealed?
Well that surely makes EDH NOT fun...
It was probably answered here, but I don't really have time look through the thread - Playing a general from your hand does it count as a card in hand?
I have a buddy whos Karn deck is pretty stupid, most of my decks are pretty bonkers too, but if you look at my signature, only one of them is considered "rude"
You could make a case for a few others (Momir Vig, Jhoira, Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Reaper King can all be nasty) but theyre totally build-dependant.
I saw three Momir vig decks playing at a table once, and NONE of them were the same (heck, i dont think the three decks had more than 20 cards other than land in common)

I would add Rafiq of the Many to that list. I have played against a couple of decks based on him and it can be nasty! Doublestrike on any creature you want can be a hand full. He also has one of the best color combos for EDH.
The thing with Jhoira and Momir is that they are both easily disrupted, especially Jhoira.
You have to get the god hand of enough land to suspend, obliterate, and huge bombs for after. If you pack your deck with just huge bombs, youll be sitting there with infinit 6-8 drops in your hand not doing anything. If you dont, you wont have a high enough concentration of said bombs to go off reliably.
Decree of annihilation, apocalypse and jokulhaups are all counterable, and heaven forbid someones playing Venser.

I'm guessing no one in your group plays Experement Kraj as their general. I've had to switch my sliver deck's general to be Sliver Legion, becase the Queen and the Overlord are too abused by the Kraj player in my playgroup.
ok stupid question and i'm sorry if this has been covered before, but i got alittle confused when i was reading something, are suspeded cards legal in EDH? Like Lotus bloom and ancestrel visions?
The rules on the main page seem to be a little out of date.
It's no big deal since the link is posted right there, but it's worth noting that there are no longer Card Specific Rules and subsequently Karakas and Riftsweeper have been banned.

Nope, nobody plays Kraj, and frankly, i have no idea why.

I have a few questions, having just finished my Isperia the Inscrutable mish-mash of cards. Is it possible for Isperia to run a card like Mystical Teachings? In addition to this...I'm confused as to the strength of the mana-symbol rule, I take it it's also not possible to run shard tri-lands in a UW deck?
I had always thought that an EDH deck is only allowed one Legendary Creature, the general. My playgroup is going to give this format a try so I was looking through the rules and browsing some sample decks and I saw some decks seem to have more than one Legend in their decks. Is this allowed?

You can have as many Legendary creatures/artifacts/whatever as you want in your deck, so long as those Legends are not used by any of your opponents as a General.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
1. This allows me to play both blue and black mana symbol cards, correct?
2. Can I play hybrid cards like Augury Adept (:1mana::symwu::symwu:) that I could cast but aren't completely my commander's colors?
3. I'm playing Collective Restraint. Therefore, I want to run a few singletons that don't really help me cast anything, but will help me hit all basic land types. Specifically, I'm running all the blue shocklands and all the MED2 dual lands, even the off color ones (Tundra, Savannah, Underground Sea, Badlands, Taiga). I know these lands won't tap for colored mana; I'm fine with that, but can I play them solely for the purpose of having their land types and tapping for colorless?
1. Correct
2. No, because the Adept has W symbols in the cost. Even if you can cast it, it cant have any other colors at all.
3. The only one you can play is Underground Sea. The others haveRWG in their text box, which makes them illegal in your deck.

Thats mostly right. Though, unless its a league and everyone knows what generals are in the league, all that happens is Generals are immune to the Legend Rule. like if your general is Jasmine Boreal, and then an opponent plays a copy of her, or tries to RKO her then all that happens is the other copy dies and you get to keep yours.
This is to make it so that if you just say to someone you see at a shop "Hey, wanna play some EDH" if he busts out a general that you have in your deck, or if you both are playing the same general then you dont fall victim of the Legend Rule.
What is the Official rule on Clone Effects on generals? I was under the impression that "Generals are immune to legend rule" applied, but a couple of guys in my playgroup have used Clone as a Hero's Demise
I just noticed someone made a post on this topic earlier today.
If I am playing a deck with Isamaru, Hound of Konda as my general, could I play a hybrid card, such as kitchen finks even though it has white symbols?
This was answered about 4 posts ago.
In short, the colors (read: casting cost) of your general dictate the colors of the cards that go into your deck. If a card contains a color (either in casting cost or referenced on the card itself in the text box) that your general does not contain, it can't go into the deck. Even hybrid costs count here.
My group is starting to play this format this weekend. I have read up on it all day and I want to be sure I understand this, cause these things don't seem completely obvious to me.
Everyone starts with their General RFG, and can play him on turn one for 0?
If he dies, I can choose wether he goes to GY or RFG. I can't just sacrifice him for no reason right? I'm trying to understand why Rofellos is so powerful.
Every time I play him this way add 2 more colorless to the cost of being able to play? (0,2,4,6,8...)
If my general was Bladewing, the Risen, and I Memory Sluice myself on turn one, and a dragon ended up in my GY, I could then play him for 0 and put that dragon into play as well?
Thanks, sorry if these are stupid questions, I've never played and all the rules I find leave me wondering if I really understand.
Well that surely makes EDH NOT fun...

also are there any generals that are considered rude/cheap/broken?
Arcum Dagsson (tezzeret...time vault...need any more thought?)
depending how you build it, Sharuum the Hegemon is the same
Zur the Enchanter
Maga, Traitor to Mortals can be pretty nasty (hes a fireball...nuff said)
pick your favorite sliver general, i prefer Sliver Overlord but all three are pretty nasty.
Honestly, its all in how you build your deck.
