Ok, I'll Counterspell your bounce spell..............
Of course there are ways to disrupt the combo. There are answers to any situation. That's what magic is all about.
Was just trying to point out that if the combo does get disrupted then the board will be completely reset. I don't think a group that bans mass LD would be very happy with that.
It's even more of a no no since I'll be the only one with lands. Our group came to the conclusion early, games go on too long when mass LD is introduced. Our games last already too long when we're all packing 6-8 wrath effects.

Very true. I will say that I'm not exactly a fan of this combo...it's just something that I've seen happen (more often than I would like :ugh:).
It's even more of a no no since I'll be the only one with lands. Our group came to the conclusion early, games go on too long when mass LD is introduced. Our games last already too long when we're all packing 6-8 wrath effects.
My group is a bit more lenient when it comes to that kind of thing. Most people agree that if there's something you can do that can win you the game, then do it. Honestly, I was against that kind of gameplay at first, but it's actually rather cool. All it means is that there's more time to play more games!
Still, nobody like 'that guy' whose entire strategy is to geddon constantly, and then have a loam fest. I guess it's all about balance. I don't think that anyone should complain if the thing you do to screw them over immediately wins you the game. In that case, they're just whining because they didn't win....well guess what? Someone has to win, and it can't always be you. (not "you" kalean...that's not directed at anyone specifically...just a type of player)
On a side note, if your games are lasting too long, maybe you should play with smaller groups, or try something like star format. How many do you normally have in a game?

I actually find that mass land destruction tends to end games very quickly. There is of course the occasional time when I have to cast Obliterate defensively to keep from dying but usually casting any geddon affect is game over in a turn or 2.
The best sweeper Sharuum can play is Austere Command naming artifacts with a Darksteel Forge and Mycosynth Lattice in play (sounds complicated, but my friend pulls it off all too frequently)
that doesn't work. mycrosynth lattice makes all permanents into artifacts. yours and theirs. therefore, if darksteel forge is in play while austere command is cast, nothing happens.

I haven't seen it in any lists, however it seems like it would be a good compliment to a deck that is mostly artifacts. Does it make you too much of a target, or is it too fragile?

It's in mine! I've got to "tinker" with it as a certain card was banned, though. That and there are two new sets of cards to add.
Canonist, is cool. I didn't use my deck outside of duels, but I imagine you'd get some hate in multiplayer. Sharuum is pretty strong anyway, so I'd imagine you'd be a target anyway!

.......
Oh yea, that'll draw some fire all right. My friend runs canonist in his sharuum deck, and it always has a pretty big effect on the game state. I'm not sure if this would work out for EDH, but my brother's Affinity deck runs canonist with Erayo, Soratami Ascendant - if you can get her flipped with a canonist out, that's a rather strong 'soft lock'.
I'm surprised you aren't running Leonin Abunas Kalean.
It's a pretty solid card in a artifact deck.
In regards to the magister sphinx.
It can get utterly ridiculous when you can just master transmuter him in a couple of times in 1 turn and just put everyone at 10, so we usually don't abuse it or just not run it within our play group in a casual game/multiplayer.
In regards to mass LD, i really can't stand it, and neither can our playgroup. As the arguement has come up plenty of times before on these forums, some people say its a viable strategy, sure it is - its just not fun to play against.
Some people's definition of fun can range from - I always win, thats fun

I play with cards that help my opponents and make the game enjoyable for everyone even if you aren't going to win.
Most of the times (from what i've seen and experienced) the only reason people win through mass LD is because the person conceides right after the spell is played.
I dont know about you guys, but after playing a big multiplayer game of EDH that's lasted 2-3 hours and then late game someone decides to reset the entire game...no thanks. As much as i enjoy the format and my friends, i'd rather just start a new game than continue draggin out to the race of who can topdeck their lands first and mana sources.
/end rant
Anyways..the deck looks solid, i suggest thinking about the abunas as it provides an extra layer in evasion for your artifacts as they sit there on the board.
Maybe Second Sunrise to combat any board sweepers that hit you the hardest?
The golem could be good as long as you're running enough creatures for it to be relevant.
Wow, the first thing I thought when I saw Second Sunrise, well just imagine this - you have Leyline of the Void in play, you Oblivion Stone to blow up the world, and then play second sunrise. You're the only one to get stuff back!

Besides, Leyline is wicked anyway.
wow that's pretty nasty and an awesome combination.
It seems to me oblivion stone would be mana intensive, am I wrong or just missing something ?
Oblivion stone is absolutely amazing. You don't need to put counters on stuff before blowing it - that's just a nice option. Any artifact that blows up all non-land permanents is worth playing in nearly every EDH deck; especially Sharuum, who can get it back over and over.
I think they're pretty close but I prefer the Oblivion Stone since it can be used right away. The downside with the O Stone is that it is a pain to have the effect stifled whereas with the disk you can just untap and use it again.
Yea, it definitely has a way of sucking the fun out of the game for everyone but the person that plays it. I'm of the opinion that pretty much 'anything goes', but I tend to avoid cards in my decks that make the game un-fun for the rest of the group (of course, it could be said that anything that wins you the game makes it un-fun for other people....what are you supposed to do? just sit there and lose?).
That said, I'm trying to find a good price on Shahrazad for my EDH decks :evillol::evillol::evillol:
I have a feeling that it may get me killed....literally
scourglass isn't as good as disk/stone because it can only be used during your upkeep. yes it's nice to have one-sided mass destruction spells, but versatility is more important.

They're both good for their own reasons - that's why you should run both.
stone is more versatile
disk is cool with tezzeret (he can untap it the turn you play it, and he survives it)
etc.
I used to play leonin abunas, but never really cared to draw it, hanna's custody does the same thing but harder to remove.
