Because this tournament has been going on for quite a while (I still have bitterblossom in my deck to defend against Braids!), and many on these forums (myself included) are eagerly awaiting the next one, and because mutedequilibrium and I are friends as well as team mates we would prefer to share the glory and split the finals ending this tournament in a draw. Hope this is alright with you Clem.
I would like to thank all my opponents for some great games and give special thanks to Clem for organizing this, here's to you and I can't wait for tournament # 3!

Advance reserving Iname, Death Aspect!
Seconded. I'm eager to see what a metagame with the current bans would look like, along with everyone else, and would like to see the next tournament up and running sooner than later.
I'd also like to take this moment to thank my opponents for being good sports about our games, as well as Clem for throwing these tournies together in the first place.
Lastly, since this was discussed quite some time ago, I'd like to share my thoughts on the tournament overall.
1. Registered generals and week long rounds are great and don't seem to need any changes. I'd like to see the tournaments continue with these elements in them.
2. Istrongly suggest that for future tournaments that players ask themselves, "Will I be willing to compromise some time to play my opponent who's 8 hours away from me?" before they sign up. Rounds get dragged out when players lag, and it's not fair to everyone else who's actively participating. If you can't reliably play your rounds out, or you don't take playing in these online tournaments seriously, PLEASE do not play. It just creates headaches for everyone else playing, as well as Clem.
3. I would also suggest that rounds end when they're supposed to, regardless of whether all the results are in. People will take their sweet ass time if they think they can get away with it. Perhaps the way these last couple of rounds have gone, where players post their attempts at trying to contact their opponents, should be the way we judge who gets a loss or a draw? It's not fair that a player should get a draw for a round when his/her schedule is wide open and his/her opponent is unwilling to make time for their match.
Now let's get the next one up and running! Advance registering Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary!
On second thought, he's not going to make me many friends, going with the old standby Momir Vig, Simic Visionary instead. I hereby officially relinquish my previous reservation of Grand Arbiter Augustin IV to anyone who wants him.
Ok, if you guys are willing to give me the chance I'd love to run another one of these with a very well planned out set of rules which I will write up later when I don't have to sleep. Also the split is fine with me. I'm just glad this is over. I'll read all the suggestions/advice later and make the new thread with a list of generals people have reserved.
I would like to request that we wait until September 20th (I know I know, long wait), until the new banned list comes out, before we start the next tournament. If that is okay with everyone? I mean at the moment we have been starting these tournaments just before the new banned lists come out and thus are unable to get any decent testing data for the new banned lists (only the old lists). As such I was hoping to change that and start doing these tournaments revolving around the new banned lists.

I've been following this thread for a bit and it looks like a lot of fun (and my sleep schedule is nonexistent, so that helps). If this is the spot for it, I'd like to reserve Uril, the Miststalker.
On waiting for the banned list: I think at the very least there should be some ruling in place for dealing with cards in decklists being banned. I'd say the odds of another general getting banned are pretty low, but I guess the 'unholy trinity' is still around with Rofellos, Zur, and Dagsson. I wouldn't expect any of them to get hit, but you never know.

Hey there everyone. Im interested in this new tournament as my roomate, mutedequilibrium, and one of my good friends, Evergreen, have gotten me excited about playing in an EDH tourney. My schedule is rather busy, im currently attending college and working, but i should be able to find the time to get some games in. (As long as my opponents are flexible). I would like to reserve Radha, heir to Keld as my general since my first choice has already been snatched up...(I'll miss you Rafiq, old buddy old pal.) I have also already voted on the new thread with the poll as well. Thanks guys.

you should probably wait for the new thread for general reservations goes up. Seeing as how we haven't even decided WHEN the new tournament will start, I think its a bit premature to start deciding what General you are going to be using already. FYI, I won't be playing Rafiq in the next tournament anyways (at least if all goes according to plan).

No point waiting for the next banned list update since it's for multiplayer. For 1v1 use the French banned list (P9, Time Vault, Tinker, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt IIRC)
the french banned list is as follows:
o Amulet of Quoz
o Bronze Tablet
o Contract from Below
o Darkpact
o Demonic Attorney
o Jeweled Bird
o Rebirth
o Tempest Efreet
o Timmerian Fiends
o Chaos Orb
o Falling Star
o Ancestral Recall
o Black Lotus
o Crucible of Worlds
o Gifts Ungiven
o Grindstone
o Karakas
o Mana Crypt
o Mind Twist
o Mindslaver
o Mox Emerald
o Mox Jet
o Mox Pearl
o Mox Ruby
o Mox Sapphire
o Necropotence
o Protean Hulk
o Riftsweeper
o Sensei's Divining Top
o Sol Ring
o Staff of Domination
o Sundering Titan
o Time Walk
o Time Vault
o Tinker
o Upheaval
o Yawgmoth's Bargain
Personally I hate the idea of playing by this banned list. Mainly because it is designed for 1v1 play that actually has a time limit (hence the banning of SDT). Since we don't have a time limit per se we should be at the least allowed to use the Top.

I had no idea there was a French ban list different from the one I'd been referring to. What do you guys want to do, play with this French banned list or use the one from the EDH site? I could see compromising on Top being legal since like Dalkon said, we are not using a time limit.
On a different note, it occurs to me that if we wait till the 20th for the new banned list that makes the Zendikar pre-release only 6 days later. As much as I do want to get started on this, that seems a very cool chance to get some play with the new set.
I do NOT want to use the French banned list. If I'm not mistaken, it's based off of 30 life games as well as timed rounds for tournaments. That does not apply to us, here.

I suggested we make our own banned and restricted list, and I think that is probably a good idea considering we are kind of our own unique entity...

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I still think we should wait for the new banned and restricted list (and Zendikar, at that), but I'd be willing to help build a practical list.
So would a good sequence of events be to post a thread for General reservations on the weekend of the pre-release, followed by the first round of the tournament on the week following Zendikar's release?
Also, developing our own banned list seems a little odd. Mostly, it seems like judgements on cards would be rather subjective. I do support the theory, but how will it be done in practice?

we would probably need to develop our own mini "rules committee" or something like that who can argue out the best cards to ban. It might take a couple tournaments to get the list to be really solid, but I think it is a good idea.

Also good news everyone, I talked to urzasseditives and he said that the winner of the next tourney will get a shiny trophy! So that's extra incentive.
I am currently working on discussing changes to how things are run with a few people who's opinions I respect a lot so expect some changes in how things were run previously. Hopefully we'll be able to make this third one the best one yet.

****. I was actually going to play him even though I hate Rofellos. I just want to get him banned again :).
Advance reserve for Captain Sisay then.
If we are able to reserve generals in advance, I'd like to claim the rights to my shiny new Gaddock Teeg.
