Hello. I belong to a group that plays rather competitive magic (Type 2 and 1.5 mostly) and we wanted to play a format to have some fun, after a while of getting all your stuff getting countered by Counterbalance and losing countless games to stupid Tarmogoyf we could use some diversity.
Notice that we won't get to the point of playing multiplayer games, at most 2-headed giant. I just can't stand playing games with many players as each turn takes forever. 1x1 will be the most common kind of game.
So we decided each to build EDH decks. I like playing control, and in EDH with 40 life that seems like the only option. But I really didn't want to play Islands.deck to counter all the **** they play and stuff like that. So I turned to my favorite mechanic, comes into play abilities (tacked onto creatures).
So I just tried to get as many creatures with CITP abilities. Here goes the pile I got after some research:
The deck is full of small sinergies and had both the pickles lock and Reveillark combo.
This is just an initial draft. I think I need to remove some creatures and add some removal. But my main concern right now is that if the final deck will be competitive, it runs a heap of "low" casting cost creature with small effects. Beating 40 life with 2/2's while your opponents build's mana for huge spells sounds sketchy at best. Will it stand a chance against a deck that plays 20 "Cruel Ultimatums"?
I thought of adding a bunch of cheap counters and some control magic effects. So with the Arbiter in play I can play a creature on my turn and still have mana up for counter/blink effect (Remand and Momentary blink for 1 mana has gotta be good, cmon).
I got the fun part covered, but this deck idea turn into a good competitive deck?
Definitely get yourself a Sol Ring if you can. I also would suggest Gilded Lotus and maybe even some 2 casting cost artifact mana accelerants to get GAA out on turn 3 like: Mind Stone, Azorious Signet, Talisman of Progress, etc. I usually run 45+ mana sources (around 36-28 land and 7-12 artifact sources). The best CITP ability that you're missing is the Divinity counter ***: Myojin of the Cleansing Fire. Even Myojin of the Seeing Winds is massive card advantage... although both of those DON'T work with your citp ability theme... however I run a Sharuum deck that runs some of the cards you're using (Mistmeadow Witch and Momentary Blink), but instead of the one fors like Turn to Mist and such, I run reusuable bounce like Erratic Portal, Crystal Shard, and Vedalken Mastermind (paying 3U or 2UU to evoke and return Mulldrifter is fun). Which reminds me, Hoverguard Sweepers could find a place in your deck too. You need to pick better counterspells: Forbid-absolutely necessary in EDH and costs the same as Counterspell when your general's out. Hinder-bye bye general (to the bottom, that is) Fervent Denial-reusable counterspell, although costly. Decree of Silence-very difficult to stop the cycling ability, NUTZ if you land in 1 on 1.
I'm not a huge fan of Parallax Wave... I'd rather have Spin Into Myth (for their general).
If you're going to run Skullclamp, I'd suggest having ways to abuse it such as: Pentavus which reads with Skullclamp: "2: draw two cards. Then once he gets down to 1 +1/+1, blink 'em! There's also Triskelavus and Mobilization (3W: Draw two cards is nice).
Well, I gotta get going, but good luck!

I agree on the artifacts acceleration, I missed that one. I can also see how reusable abilities are better that one-shot abilities in this format, as games tend to drag ad nauseam.
But I do like my counters 1 mana hard counters when the General is out has to be good. But I will give them a little more thought.
Also on the Parallax Wave, it comboes very well with every card with a CITP and is basically endless with Flickerwisp and can be used offensively.
But seriously, getting out a 7 mana guy, then a 1 mana artifact just to spend more mana to just draw card?
I also missed on some mass removal.... possibly Wrath and Austere Command, for power and flixibility respectively.
Route is a solid wrath effect and i agree with you on parallax wave.
I play a similar deck with Rafiq as my Gen.
I get:
Eternal Wistness
Life From the Loam/Astral Slide Combo
Acidic Slime
Mana Reflection
Seedborne Muse
As the main advantages (eternal wistness is SICK)
id say if you want to stay with Grand arbitar as your Gen:
Negate > Remove Soul
CloudCover
Teferi's Moat
Swords to plowshares
Hallowed Burial
Path to Exile
Deep Analysis
Fact or Ficiton
Ancestral Visions
Compulsion
Return to Dust
Dismantling Blow
Nevinyrrals Disk
Sol Ring
Azorious Signet
