EDH is well known for being a HUGE format. So when misplays happen, they tend to be HUGE.
In todays game, the person sitting to my right played Channel into a Blaze, paying all his life except one and throwing the Blaze at the player to my left (who would have been killed, as he had taken quite a bit of damage already). In response, the player who was the target of the blaze sacrifices his Mogg Fanatic, dealing one damage to the player who cast the Blaze. Channel player dies, as he was only on one life. He's dead, so his blaze gets removed from the stack. Blaze player essentially commited suicide, in exchange for blowing up a mogg fanatic.
He tried to pull the same trick in the next game with an Earthquake, except the earthquake got Vensered and then when it rolled around to the Niv-Mizzet player's turn, Niv drew for the turn and then pinged Channel-Man to death.
What silly Misplays/Failplays have you seen in an EDH game?
I've had a couple epic EDH fails but the exact circumstances slip my mind currently. One great and my favorite phail was back in Shadowmoor release when a friend of mine (who is actually a phenomenal player) was in a backpeddling situation. His opponent was attacking for a lot of damage and the only way to not take so much was to puncture bolt his guy. The opponent had blowfly infestation out and my friend had a few guys with 1 butts. My friend basically single-sided wrathed his board to kill one attacking creature.
There really aren't too many epic fails coming to mind in my EDH group, but there were some funny funny moments. Like Elfball player spending 5 minutes trying to figure out how to go infinite with 1 forest (I had stolen all his lands) and a bunch of elves on the field. Part of doing this involved Crop Rotating his Forest for another forest so he could tap it again. Then he goes infinite. The choice when it comes back to me is go infinite or scoop. I drew what I needed and still had to think it through for a few minutes to go infinite...
I have had an opposing player O-ring my General only to have a brain cramp and take about six turns to realise I could replay him from the out of play zone. I am suprised that the other three folks in the game kept a straight face for that long.

All the kids who played the blues
Would learn my licks with a bottle neck slide
I recall a time when one guy at the table hadassembledkaldra. He really wasn't wanting to attack with it though cause he wanted a blocker for the various dragons on the table. After about 4-5 rounds of everyone trying to find an answer for it he goes 'wait, I could attack, make another token to kill them both, then make a token again and have an untapped blocker?' Yep. Everyone at the table was all 'Was wondering when you were going to notice that'
There was one time with my Karn deck that I had a good bit of mana and combo pieces either in hand or on the table. I play Karn, he gets countered, I replay Karn, realize I'm 1 mana short to combo off, and get him hit by Hallowed Burial the next turn.

Probably made even more embarassing because out of all of the abilities an assembled Kaldra has, flying isn't one of them. He's not blocking many dragons either way...
Forgot to mention, this player is rather fond of stealthily discarding Wonder to some effect or another.
Playing Venser, I managed to run my general into a Morphling (in my defense, it was tapped...). Once forgot that I could regenerate Hellkite Overlord through Vindicate.
One I recall was especially amusing, Sliver Overlord player makes a Quick Sliver on his second turn. On my third turn, after missing land number 3 playing Zirilan of the Claw, I play Fire Dragon and kill it (it was the only other creature on the table).
I have played Hallowed Burial when my (easily killed otherwise) General was on the board, without a way to get her back, always thinking it was worth it. (never is)
I watched a game at an event where someone played Vindicate. In response, another player played Radiate. They all decided to scoop.
We were playing a game a few weeks ago, and the Bant player could have killed me and I was basically asking him to kill me, and he didn't. (attacked a player that didnt matter)
I then stabilized and took control of the game entirely.
Another game had a player trying to resolve Wheel of Fate and in response I played StP on a guy, then another player starts doing Capsize/Venser combo. :/
I'll probably have more after tonight.

In a four player game it was only me and one other guy left. The other two had been dispatched. He was at fifteen and i had a couple lands, including boseiju, who shelters all channel and like seven life. I channeled four leaving me at three and tapped all my lands leaving me at one. and threw a fireball at his face. I was one point short. so we're both at one he kills me the next turn. and as we're packing up i realize that if i had left boseiju untapped and channeled for six he would have died. i felt stupid.
During one game playing as Niv, I Twincasted a Bribery to get a Multani, Maro-Sorcerer out. It was turn 4 in a 6 player game, so Multani was sitting at above 40 P/T. When it came around to my turn, I played Cryptic Command to tap down a guy's board and alpha strike with Multani for the kill!.....Holy Day.
But here's an EPIC FAIL. I was playing the same Oros deck vs. Zur. It's turn 5 or 6, we both have 5-6 cards in hand, and I tap out for Identity Crisis. He only has a white and black mana open. You know what happens? Imp's Mischief.
No offense but who plays Mogg Fanatic in EDH and when Channel is played you choose Demonfire (with hellbent) or Banefire.
One of the people I know has a Maga deck and whenever he played Maga, Traitor to Mortals he thought he gained life as well but nobody noticed it midway though the game so the game ended up being restarted.
My friend, Inari, took 5 consecutive turns building up a massive board position with a TwincastTime Stretch, and was ready to kill me and the other player, Riki, on his next turn. 30 cards in hand (Reliquary Tower), tons of critters, etc. Once he passed the turn, I tried to resolve an entwined Tooth and Nail, but had no really good answers anyway. He immediately throws down his Pact of Negation to stop it. Fine.
I continue with my turn, Magus of the Future and SDT get me through a couple lands on top of the library, and then I play Trade Secrets. He draws a few more cards because it doesn't matter to him, and I pass.
Then it's Riki's turn. He putzes about, making a big deal about how cool his just-topdecked Helix Pinnacle is, adds some counters to it, and passes the turn, asking a question about how much damage Inari has at his disposal on the attack. Inari untaps and begins turning creatures sideways. "8, 12, this guy's a 32/32...." Then Riki says, "Wait, you didn't draw your card for the turn yet." Inari says "Oh, that's right!" promptly drawing and losing to his Pact.

my most epic multiplayer game of EDH had to be the stand still match. it was me (Sharuum) my friend (also playing Sharuum) and my other friend (Merieke Ri Berit). i cast standstill on turn 3 (i could have on turn 2). and we went through about 40-45 turns of draw go. many land drops and discarding later. the other Sharuum player used Tolaria West searching for Buseiju, not realizing that standstill doesn't counter the spell played.
to finish the story, the other Sharuum played Thirst for Knowledge cracking the standstill. the turn past after he did nothing. Berit player played Teferi, then i played Teferi in response, Berit played Hinder, Sharuum played Desertion on the countered Teferi, then that spell got Rewind(ed) and to end the stack, i cast Enlightened Tutor. Berit ends his turn with a mind twist on the other Sharuums emptying his hand. My turn i Take Possession Berit's Teferi, then laid out my hand, oblivion ring something and tomod's crypt(ing) Sharuum's graveyard (he scooped after that). Berit's turn started with an enlightened turtor into an mindslaver lock.

I'm new to Fourm, but while my brother and I were playing he Confiscated
my Ajani Vengeant. I waited until he had just gotten 7 loyalty counters on it and then disenchated and Armageddoned his board.
Also just yesterday, He Mindslavered my turn. Forced me to play Wurmcalling for 54 (I had both Mirari's Wake and Mana Reflection in play) and then countered it with Draining Whelk. A 55/55 flying is not easy to deal with.

Wow... long game to have 18 lands out...:o Don't think I've ever gotten much past 10-12...
Playing in a tournament lately, across the table from me was a player playing Intet. On each side of him was a control player, (Oona and Zur) and both of them had tapped out trying to do as much damage to each other as possible. The Zur player had Rhystic Study out, but the Intet guy had a gigantic grin on his face. He tapped out for an entwined Tooth and Nail and said he was going to go get Kiki Jiki and Pestermite and go infinite. We were playing where you can split your attackers, so this essentially meant we had all just died. The Zur player asks him if he paid for Rhystic Study, and Intet scoffs at him. Zur draws his card and gets...
Commandeer! He steals Tooth and Nail for by discarding two blue cards, goes and gets his two best creatures, and proceeds to win the game in the next few turns. The Intet player had a forest in his hand, he just didn't play it that turn.

actually they would have had to have 19 sources of mana out in order to be able to wurmcall for 54, due to the Green in the mana cost of Wurmcalling. If however he said he Wurmcalled for 53, that would make more sense. Still, yeah, this kind of scenerio is why Land Destruction is GOOD.

I was playing Nicol Bolas in a 3 or 4-player game a few months ago. One guy plays Maralen of the Mornsong; if he doesn't combo out, he figures, Maralen will at least make for a fun game. My turn, I lose three life and go and tutor for Mindlock Orb. Good jooooobbbb
(Lesson learned: Don't think d0su will pass up the opportunity to ruin the game. lol it's all in the name of fun, right?)
Another EDH game at a PTQ ended up with me playing Nicol Bolas versus three other guys. I was at 4, and everyone else was below 10 life, as well. Anyway, it comes around to my turn and seeing as how I have plenty of mana and 3 Hondens in play, I Plague Wind and then opted to play Thought Reflection because, for me, drawing cards is like an in-game narcotic. I pass the turn and can't wait for my next upkeep. Then the guy playing Rith untaps and kills me with some tokens from Predatory Advantage and Doubling Season.
(Lesson learned: When in doubt, play the 8-mana dragon. Drawing cards is bad for the brain.)
FINALLY, the best story: I was playing Zur and Tunnel Visioned myself naming Replenish. The Dralnu player promptly Hinders the Replenish away, then Memory Plunders my Tunnel Vision on me, naming Replenish (now at the bottom of my deck). Over the next round, everyone gets in a huge counterspell war over Teferi. I then untap, draw, and play the biggest Replenish I've ever heard of.
(Lesson learned: Replenish wins games.)
I was playing yesterday in a 5 player star, my allys were my brother playin brion stoutarm and a friend playin my korlash deck. enemy's were playin oros, the avenger and teneb, the harvester ( me playing my Rafiq deck).
So about turn 6-7 ish the Teneb player thoughseized my brother (ally) and he reveals swords to plowshares, condemn, path to exile, and a few other bombs. Condemn gets removed for safety and he decides out of fear to swing at me rather than my brother with removal spells.
Declare attacks, "Teneb at you"
Response... CONDEMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOOOOOHHHHH WTF SERIOUSLY?
Those are the good moments and reason I play EDH.

My friend has a Hound of Konda deck. Usually, if I have a Condemn in my hand within the first few turns, and he hasn't gotten Whispersilk Cloak or Flickering Ward out, I just reveal it and he scoops...
I watched a game where a guy died agonizingly over 10 turns to Spiteful Visions. The funny part was that he had a Mortify in his hand the whole time, but it was a textless promo and he completely spaced that it could kill enchantments!
In todays game, the person sitting to my right played Channel into a Blaze, paying all his life except one and throwing the Blaze at the player to my left (who would have been killed, as he had taken quite a bit of damage already).
