Hey guys!! This is my first EDH build ever, so bear with me Anyway, I've always been interested in building a deck around Thraximundar, as I think he has huge combo potential. Here's my list:
I've designed it mostly to be neat multiplayer deck with friends. It's rife with unlimited combos (which may or may not be good, because I'll be an instant target if I take them too far) - mana, tokens, ability to kill creatures (via Phyrexian Plaguelord, Grave Pact, & Plagued Rusalka), card draw (Staff of Domination), direct damage (Blasting Station), etc. It's obviously designed to accelerate mana like you wouldn't believe, search out combo pieces, and create a ton of tokens to set up for the kill... plus, having a huge Thraximundar never hurt
I haven't tested it at all yet as there are quite a few cards I need to get, but thankfully most of these are pretty dirt cheap. I'm still debating on maybe throwing in a few of the following: Copy Enchantment Candelabra of Tawnos
Anyway, like I said, first EDH deck ever. Thoughts?
In EDH, your deck con't contain any cards that have a color in their casting cost or text box that your general doesn't have in it's casting cost. So Doomgape is a no-go. Also, Tinker, Recurring Nightmare, and Panoptic Mirror are banned.
Sorry, seems like I'm only pointing out cards you CAN'T use and not really helping with the deck. Is there any particular reason you are using Thrax as your general? Your deck seems to be focused on artifacts and I don't see many red cards. I think you would be better off using a U/B or U/B/W general. Sharuum the Hegemon seems like a good fit.

No, thanks for the comments!! I tried searching a few different websites because I knew there were banned cards, but I couldn't dig anything up. Doomgape was just a mistake on my part, it was late last night
I originally started building the deck because I wanted to try Thrax, but I realized that I'd need to go pretty heavy into artifacts to be able to have the "sacrifice power" which could make him huge. You're correct in that I don't really use red too much, that's because other than Braid of Fire and Icefall (which is just plain good if you have the mana), I couldn't find too much interaction. I suppose it could be set up better, but I'm not really sure which direction it would be best to take it in.
I'd focus on the sacrifice aspects of the deck. Sacrificing your own stuff and making other players sacrifice their stuff makes Thraxi big. I don't think you should focus on artifacts with this general. He just doesn't click with that.
I'd consider adding these cards and cut back on those that don't help your theme:
I included the elementals because evoking them results in a sacrifce that makes Thraxi bigger. I included Warhammer to give him trample, but you could also use stuff that makes him unblockable. The other cards should be self-explanatory, but I'll elaborate if you want.

Um... Maybe you misread Thraxmundar. "whenever a player sacrifices a creature, put a 1.1 counter on it". Thats how he works. A ded with thraxmundar is going to make opponnets sacrifice a lot of stuff, and have its own creatures get sacrificed. Obvious routes would be something like Mogg FanaticFallen Angel and tokens like Empty the Warrens or Mogg War Marshal. This way, by the time Thrax gets out, he is just icing on the cake.

Good ideas!! The only reason I have a lot of the artifacts in there is for acceleration; the more mana I produce in a turn, the more tokens I can sacrifice. However, I've come to realize that a lot of the cards aren't really serving much purpose. so I'll try this:
I'm caught in a bit of a pinch right now, though - Thraximundar can get huge as a result of the sacrifice, but I'm debating swapping him out with Merieke Ri Berit. I'm really not running many red cards at the moment (so it wouldn't be hard to cut the ones I am), and she would work extremely well in a deck like this and I think it could benefit from her inclusion. That'd also give me access to Ertai, the Corrupted, who would be great with all of my token makers. Both would be excellent with Minamo, School at Water's Edge and Scepter of Dominance. Eh.
