Currently i've been trying to put together a more friendly EDH deck for my local shop, apparently its not amazingly fun for me to play my Dralnu, Lich Lord MBC deck all the time and a few of us have decided to try out a form of EDH tribal theme just to see what type of fun we could have. Having played zombie tribal a while back and having a ton of 2/2 zombie tokens built up from 10th and the alara block i decided to go with zombies.
This is just the things i had available at the time and what is currently together in deck form.
My meta is essentially a host of casual players moderately competive mostly just aimed at having fun with essentially a single player running Erayo control who is eliminated first in almost every game because he refuses to enjoy the casual just for fun format. I also find beating people with 2/2 zombie tokens to be hugely ironic with the idea of edh being go big or go home. Any suggestions would be awsome.
Too casual to discuss? Does the deck seriously lack that much competitiveness? Considering the original post is what i currently have together and running i went ahead and derived a basic goal for the deck, kinda like a wish list. Some of the cards are a little too high for me at the moment it atleast gives me an idea of where i wanna end up and hopefully the end product can atleast incur some discussion and/or suggestions.
how important is it that you have to play zombies can you throw in a couple non zombies if so how many.
i have been wanting to build a zombie deck for a long time but haven't gotten around to it. took mine apart shortly after ice age block.
you should apologize to haakon there are so many things you can do with him in.
I'm working on a deck list. it will be very different than yours.
do you want me to post it here, do you want a list of cards to put in or take out.
feel free to post any suggestions you may have, im not quite sure what you mean by apologize to haakon, he seems to be in both the current and the goal list. As for zombies or non-zombies im not really limited by too much of anything (its sort of a self limitation if you will) but i want to keep it as close to zombie tribal as i can.
go ahead and post any and all suggestions and or similar deck lists here
mana fixers
3 of your fave land fetchers i cant think of the names of the best ones but the threshold one i will probably play with sol ring land tax with scroll rack great crucible of worlds life from the loam
in advanced reply you can just use the deck icon after selecting your entire list to give it that nice deck list feel.
I could add in a few of the zombie knights to add that element of recursion to the deck i.e. stromgald crusader, stillmoon cavalier, eastern/ western paladin. Currently he just happens to be a nice annoying creature that doesn't tend to go away. Currently a couple of the combo's the deck can really fall into are
Zombie Infestation and Armageddon can quickly knock out a couple players early or towards the end as you'll be left typically with the only things hitting the battlefield.
Ultimately the deck can be very explosive with things like popping a nice size decree of pain on the field and then landing into a horde of 2/2 zombie tokens via Zombie infestation, or tossing a control player into a mess with a resolved armageddon or catastrophe while typically looking relatively inneffective most of the time as you hold several key removal cards in the grip be it mass removal or spot removal with things like mortify/putrify/maelstrom pulse and vindicate
As for life gain you would be suprised how quickly life totals can switch around once Necromancer's Covenant hits the field.
Some of your suggestions would make using land removal a little more easy for me... i.e. Life from the Loam and or crucible of worlds so once i get my hands on some of those they will definately go in. Recently it seems now that my mana base is ALOT more reliable i need to ensure i have a way to keep from running out of gas. I can't utilize Necropotence (my favorite card in magic) because of the heavy discard theme, and that doesn't leave me too many options.
oh well i will have to see after a few more games.
as much as i do love lim-dul he is simply to restrictive of a general, in terms of color... and normally i dislike using a general over 5cc i only have two options for BWG
This is just the things i had available at the time and what is currently together in deck form.

Bridge from Below and Leyline of the void essentially turning every trade or board wipe involving non- token creatures into a gain.
Zombie Infestation and Armageddon can quickly knock out a couple players early or towards the end as you'll be left typically with the only things hitting the battlefield.
Zombie Trailblazer / Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Zombie Master is usually a nice blow that can take an unsuspecting opponent out of the game.
