I'm trying to build a decent multiplayer deck based on the Deer/Elk theme. I dont necessarily want all the cards to be around the theme but as much as possible.
Some cards in the deck dont have any elk or deer on them, I'd like to remove them as much as possible. Here are other possible candidates...
I thought the deck wouldnt be so bad because of the Selvala's Stampede which is sick in multiplayer games but I either run out of cards or reveal small elks from the top of my deck and it isnt that impressive.
Here are other possible cards with elks (or stuff that is close enough to elks) on them:
Yeah...still...Fierce Empath isnt an elk ...I will think about it though...
I would have liked to find a green elk with at least 4 power and a mana cost of 3 or less to trigger the Temur Ascendancy but the only thing I could find is Nulltread Gargantuan but it negates the draw effect...would only be good with multiple ascendancy on the board.
I'm looking for 4 Rampant Growth from the Mirage Edition...the one with the elk on it...I'll drop my number of lands a bit to play these.
I tried the deck in a 4 players game last friday (2 vs 2). Turn 3 Aura Shards, my turn 4 Decimate got countered as well as my turn 5 Prophet of Kruphix...it did give some breathing room for my partner but it wasnt enough...things started to get downhill from there....still looking for my first win with this deck.
The prophets dont have any elk or deer on them so I'm trying to get rid of them but it's a small sacrifice I make to try to make the deck a bit more playable.
I dont really see an Elk on Rishkar's Expertise and I dont like the card that much...it's a "win-more" card in my mind.

If you call having a creature "winning", perhaps.
If I have a creature (especially one that is big enough to make Rishkar's Expertise valuable) and am casting another card afterwards, I'm usually in a pretty good spot. I'd leave it for commander and play some lower cost alternatives that don't require a resolved creature of significant size.
On an unrelated note Kenrith's Transformation is an extremely powerful card and I've been loving it in EDH. It's worse in MP since it doesn't have Commanders to neuter but "killing" a creature and drawing a card is a Hell of a rate at 2 CMC. Oko has also been insane in EDH for the same reasons but Kenrith's Transformation is a legitimate removal spell in Green.

I second this. The card isn't as good asBeast within but I love that this comes down a turn earlier allowing me to really punish those turn two Moat or their birds of paradise especially if shutting off their ramp stymies them because they become land screwed. The fact that the card replaces itself really makes the card strong. The creature you give them is mostly a moot point.
Oko is simply kill on sight or fall behind miserably.

Here is the current state of the deck:
1 Golden Hind
4 Dawntreader Elk
2 Jackalope Herd
3 Prophet of Kruphix
2 Game-Trail Changeling
1 Somberwald Stag
1 Woodland Bellower
3 Tusked Colossodon
1 Garruk's Horde
1 Axebane Stag
1 Gladehart Cavalry
1 Font of Fertility
4 Mystic Remora
4 Temur Ascendancy
1 Primeval Bounty
Spells
3 Downpour
2 Decimate
4 Selvala's Stampede
1 Blasphemous Act
Lands
5 Forest
3 Island
1 Mountain
1 Thornwood Falls
1 Fire-Lit Thicket
1 Yavimaya Hollow
1 Mossfire Valley
4 Frontier Bivouac
3 Exotic Orchard
The forests I'm using (http://www.mtgsalvation.com/cards/avacyn-restored/19632-forest) have a deer on them so when I sacrifice Font of Fertility or Dawntreader Elk, the Elk only moves to the forest card. Yeah...I know, pretty.

Here are other possible cards with elks (or stuff that is close enough to elks) on them:
Arborback stomper
Gaea's Revenge
Nessian Game Warden
Nulltread Gargantuan
Snake of the Golden Grove
Stampeding Elk Herd
Thornling
Thragtusk
Vigor
Wilt-Leaf Liege
Shamanic Revelation
I also found a WG land with an elk on it but I cant remember it's name at the moment.
Let me know if you have any suggestion to make this deck better.
Thanks,
Kain

Here's the current version of the deck:
4 Thragtusk
4 Woolly Thoctar
3 Prophet of Kruphix
3 Woodland Bellower
1 Snake of the Golden Grove
1 Garruk's Horde
1 Gladehart Cavalry
1 Archon of Justice
4 Font of Fertility
4 Temur Ascendancy
2 Aura Shards
Artifacts
1 Sol Ring
Spells
1 Downpour
2 Decimate
4 Selvala's Stampede
1 Blasphemous Act
2 Forest
1 Island
1 Mountain
1 Plains
1 Savannah
1 Sungrass Prairie
4 Vivid Grove
4 Reflecting Pool
4 Frontier Bivouac
4 Exotic Orchard
If the Temur Ascendancy is in play, playing a Woodland Bellower (hardcasted or through Selvala's Stampede) would be pretty nice since it gets a Woolly Thoctar (only reason why I'm playing white) for an extra card draw. If it gets hard to reach my colors, I'll probably switch it for Leatherback baloth and drop the white entirely.

4x Arbor Elf
2x Font of Fertility
2x Golden Hind
4x Metallic Mimic
4x Throne of the High City
20x Forest
2x Rishkar's Expertise
4x Dawntreader Elk
2x Burnished Hart
2x Caravan Vigil
4x Great Sable Stag
4x Somberwald Stag
4x Stampeding Elk Herd
This one seems a bit out of place here? Or am I missing something in the art?
Nice catch on Rishkar's Expertise, seems like a great inclusion.
I dont really see an Elk on Rishkar's Expertise and I dont like the card that much...it's a "win-more" card in my mind.
Still, thanks for suggesting !
If I already have one (or several) strong creature, it will have me draw plenty of cards.
If my board is empty and I need something to protect me against my opponent's threat, it wont be any help.
4 Dawntreader Elk
4 Burndished Heart
4 Golden Hind
4 Great Sable Stag
4 Heliod's Emissary
4 Somberwald Stag
4 Glimmerpoint Stag
3 Herald's Horn
2 Steely Resolve
4 Lead the Stampede
Land
4 Temple of Plenty
4 Sunpetal Grove
8 Forest
7 Plains
Other Options
Hidden Stag's oracle text has it as an elk beast.

I just wish Oko wasnt that expensive...I would like to run some in my elk deck =)
Nice try Netdecker. You people sicken me.
