I'm putting together a very casual deck while stuck in the household to play with my wife. It's G/W and just about every card has creature type "Human Knight" or supports either/or. There are no format restrictions, but we have agreed to not use any banned cards and respect restricted rulings as well.
Here's my problem:
I want to play Angel of Glory's Rise to dump my graveyard back onto the board en masse, should the game stall. I am not sure if there is anyway to protect her as she's being cast. Once she hits the board I can reasonably keep her protected. Plus, the flux of Humans should be enough to clean things up.
I've been staring at Gatherer and my eyes are starting to bleed. Is there a G/W/Colorless way to protect her, or is there another card(s) that I've overlooked that would help me get Humans out of my graveyard en masse?
Instead of casting, you can also try to sneak the Angel onto the battlefield with Quicksilver Amulet. Since you are not casting a spell, most counterspells are incapable of stopping it. (Exceptions incudle, Disallow, Trickbind, Voidslime, Stifle, etc.)
Grand Abolisher prevents opponents from casting counterspells (and other stuff) during your turn. Defense Grid works similarly.
One mass animation spell for white is Immortal Servitude. Should be able to grab a bunch of humans from your graveyard all at once.
Anyone out there willing to help me pare this down? I don't know if I should just go mono white, but I need a way to get some card draw. The card quantities/selections were jumbled together off what I thought had some synergy. Again, this is a casual deck, but it'd be nice for it to be a clean/efficient deck as well.
Not too much I can say on the deck, it looks quite solid, though the numbers could be tweaked some more depending on what decks you face. For example, Mirran Crusader should really be a 4-of as should be Knight of the White Orchid. For the later, you want to have Temple Gardens in the deck, so that you can grab some green producing plains. I'd not play Razorverge Thicket, the Temple, or any other land prone to enter the battlefield tapped. If Temple Garden, Cavern of Souls, and Sunpetal Grove are still not enough to satisfy your color needs, consider adding Wooded Bastions as well.
In the nonland cards, I think Steward of Valeron can go, since your early game is mostly white, so any card requiring green to play should really be worth it. Like that Behemoth Sledge or Juniper Order Ranger. Honor of the Pure as a 2-of also irks me. Consider Spear of Heliod in its place, which gives you some more ways to deal with opposing flyers (the ground is covered in knights, but the skies are rather open). The deck probably needs some more removal anyway. With Knight Exemplar in the deck, mass removal ala Day of Judgment becomes even better.
If you are looking for some solid card draw for the deck, Harmonize is your friend. Green has some other goodies for that as well, but those are mosty more conditional. Of those, Rishkar's Expertise may be an option. Along with some really strong knights, card draw is a good reason to stay in green.
I would get rid of Juniper Order Ranger, Conclave Cavalier, and Wilt-Leaf Liege. Good cards, but they cost a lot of mana and they don't shore up one of the deck's weaknesses (like getting out-valued, sweepers, or combo.)
You need Knight of Autumn. Great card at tackling a wide variety of problems.
