I’m searching for a particular kind of deck. I want to create a Public Service Announcement deck proclaiming the dangers of shock lands. It involves City of Brass, Donate, and an infinite tap/untap combo of target permanent. I tried searching for infinite combos of that type but it’s always for tapping/untapping the thing that causes the effect, not an external permanent. Anyone got any tips?

If you have a way to infinitly untap say tidewater minion or kiora's follower then a rishadan port and one other land outside you engine will do it. Maybe freed from the real and a rock that makes at least UU.

1 - tap the rock
2 - tap to untap rock
3 - activate FFtR to untap creature
(Infinite U mana achieved)
4 - use port to tap city of brass
5 - tap creature to untap the city
6 - activate FFtR
7 - tap creature to untap port
(Infinite untaps and tap of city achieved and it only took 4 cards plus the city and donate)

This is kind of an odd premise for a deck, especially since no Shock Lands are present in the combo you are asking about.

Anyway, there are a number of combos out there to do what you want. The easiest way I can see this working is Sol Ring (or any nonland mana producers that produce a total of 2 mana or more) + Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter + Fatestitcher. The Reversal/Scepter combo untaps all your stuff for "free" if you can produce at least 2 mana from nonland sources and then Fatestitcher taps and untaps the City of Brass during each iteration of the cycle.

You could also use Turnabout (or Mana Geyser) + Reiterate to generate infinite mana and then start pointing the copies at your opponent to make their City of Brass tap and untap.

Obviously you can get way better payoffs for these combos, but these should allow you to do what you want.

Oh? I thought any land that hurts you is considered a shock land. Is it just any land that pings you for 2 damage a single time?

What about using Living Plane or Nature's Revolt to give Freed from the Real a direct target? Nothing on Real says it has to be your creature.

Yeah. Things like Hallowed Fountain. It was just a little jab at your terminology; I assumed you meant the City of Brass

I think the best jargon for City of Brass would be painland, though that is mostly used for the Yavimaya Coast cycle. But it is pretty close

I was in no way going for the most efficient - simply the first thing I though of. OP wanted a combo to do a thing, and I was really just working backwards from there.

City of Brass is for amateurs. You should also run 4 Sorrow's Path.

Bazaar Trader is an efficient Donate effect.

You won't even need to go infinite. You can just use Rishadan Port or Opposition on the Donated Sorrows Paths and Cities to slowly ping him away and also wipe his board.
