Hey guys. I've posted on here before (before the Twitch change), but it's been some years. Over the last couple years, I've gotten back into the game with some buds, and we've been playing casual -- but we have some expectations of the format. Casual means 'established by turn 4, win on turn 5' -- so we game towards people winning on turn 5. We have that guy who plays variants of upheaval-tog and some mediocre burn and everything in between.
Control is particularly abundant, and we're a bunch of people who enjoy the matchups, so it's been really fun. I've been working on a list to play in the format, and I'm mostly happy with it, but I think there are a couple of kinks to work out.
I'm pretty sure the walkers don't fit and that there's a possibility of some utility land(s) over a couple of the swamps. I'm hoping someone has fresh ideas.
To add, my favorite part of this deck is the interaction between Liliana and grim lavamancer!
What's your meta like to justify TEN Edict effects? Are there a lot of Shroud and Hexproof creatures (e.g. Argothian Enchantress, Geist of Saint Traf, Slippery Bogles, reanimated Inkwell Leviathan, cheated out Emrakul, the Aeons Torn)? If not, why not just run targeted removal? Innocent Blood seems pretty bad here. A lot of the time you will have a board state where Blood forces you to sacrifice something good, and the only way around that is making silly plant tokens with Nissa. Instead you could replace Blood with Lightning Bolt or Terminate or Fatal Push and be able to kill the enemy creature you want to kill without having to give up something yourself. If you need to kill something you can't target, you still have 4 Gatekeepers + 2 Liliana LOL. If you're worried about dying to your own Dark Confidant, you can always Bolt it or kill it with Lavamancer, without needing Innocent Bloods.
If control is abundant, how about more discard like Hymn to Tourach?
You probably need a finisher. What about Gurmag Angler or Tombstalker? They fight for your graveyard cards with Lavamancer and Deathrite Shaman, but they're also great finishers. If you're worried about having enough graveyard fuel or awkward Confidant flips, another option is Abyssal Persecutor (which you can kill with Innocent Blood and friends). I assume Tarmogoyf is out of your budget/card pool, otherwise Goyf is good.
We do have a mighty large amount of shroud and hexproof, but your point is well taken. Fatal Push would basically always have targets, I need to seriously think about swapping the bloods for those.
As for hymn, I simply hadn't thought about it. That seems like a pretty strong option. Thanks FTW

Liliana is great, no problems with her.
