When I first started playing magic a friend of mine showed me his deck called “monster mash”, the premis was that he would put out creatures that deal damage to the owner, then use spells to give them to opponents. Any idea what some of these cards may be? I can’t hunt them down.
It is a strong detrimental effect though, so these creatures are cheap and big and usually will kill the opponent or die trying before it gets too serious. You have to keep them alive and unable to hurt you when giving away control of them. Putting something like One Thousand Lashes or Pillory of the Sleepless on them seems like a good idea to keep with the theme.
That’s a pretty Rube Goldberg way to win, lol. I much prefer to win by using those critters myself. For example Serendib Efreet is a flying 3/4 that only does one per turn to you, and is one of the beaters I use in an (almost) pauper aggro blue dueling deck. Along with Delver, Illusory Angel, and a grip of bounce, these beaters hammer down quite effectively. The point here is that if your means of stalling attack is negated, then you will lose...badly.
My decks regularly contain ways to deal with almost any card type, often permanently. So a good portion of the time, I’d have a pretty good chance of burning you with your own cards. It’s ballsy, but risky.
But, and this is a pretty-Sir-Mixalot-big-B-U-T-T, a fun donation trick is Illusions of Grandeur. You get the 20 life, then donate it until they can’t upkeep it anymore and they lose 20 life. That would be epic. I have never done that myself, but if you’re going to give them something, why not donate a loss to them?
