So my friends and I play a variety of formats in Magic. Often times we find ourselves at the Kitchen Table playing EDH and sometimes 60 card casual multiplayer.
I've decided to brew up a new Pirate deck, but I don't really know how to gear it towards surviving a multiplayer fight considering Pirates feel extremely aggressive. My one friend already has a Revel in Riches themed deck, so I wanted to try something with Admiral Beckett Brass in a midrange style build.
So far my deck is primarily UB splashing Red only for Admiral Beckett Brass. I build this deck because it was extremely cheap to make (except for the RIX pirates cards which I still have to accquire).
I haven't tested it yet as I still have some cards to acquire, but so far I'm hoping I can just have an aggressive start with evasive creatures and have some tricks and removal up my sleeve for the later game or in case anyone tries something.
Another catch is I'm only using cards from the Ixalan block, and trying to keep it on a tight budget for casual purposes.
My question? Has anyone played around with Grixis Pirates, and are their any crucial pirate cards I'm missing in this build that I can use from Ixalan or Rivals? How could I design this deck to perform better in a multiplayer setting? Any comments and suggestions are appreciated, thanks!
