My 7 year old daughter has been playing magic with her friends, and now my 5 year old daughter wants a deck too. Im going to make her a burn deck because i think its the easiest to play in terms of rules.
None of the cards can be expensive or complicated. Id like there to be a few creatures in there for her to root for. I want the deck to be 60 cards
This reminds me of my brothers deck when I started playing 18 years ago. Disintegrate was a favorite because he could "remove me from the game" with a lethal dose.
thanks for your answer. i also like disintegrate because creatures cant regenerate. i've considered ball lightning but i want to give her some creatures that stick around instead.
I dont really have very many new cards. Im not adverse to spending a few bucks on some cards, but the last set i bought in bulk was tempest, so cards from that era get preference, at least for now, just because I have tons of them.

My decks. Feel free to make suggestions. The Precious B___U___G___R___W
4 earthquake (or some other X damage spell. A lot of them have their advantages.)
that 32 cards. Im not sure how to fill the rest of the deck.
Im thinking the mana curve is pretty low, so maybe i can get away with 22 lands. if thats the case, i have 6 slots to fill. if i need 23 lands, i have 5. if i really want to make sure she always has land in her hand or in play for the earthquake or the fireblast i would go up to 24 lands, leaving me 4 empty slots. im thinking ill start with 23 and see how it goes.
the first thing i think i need from my 5 open slots is more creatures. Im only going to consider creatures with haste for now, and i want the thundermaw hellkite to be the highest casting cost in the deck. The cards im considering are: Talruum Minotaur i like the 3/3, but its only 1 less to cast then the hellkite, and its not nearly as good. im thinking i should get something with a lower casting cost.
Ball lightning i like it, maybe 1 or 2, but mostly i think i want some creatures that dont die at the end of the turn. i do think i need some 3 drops.
Raging cougar its got the 3 drop that i like, its only 1/1 less the the minotaur, but it only costs 1 less to cast.
raging goblin i like the card, but i think id rather do something else with my 1 drop.
(no she cant use my goblin guides. shes careful and respectful, but she's 5)
the other option to fill the 5 slots would be more direct damage. If I were going to go that route, right now id pick lava spike.
although if i think about the ball lightning as a damage spell rather then a creature, maybe i should go with 3 raging cougar and 2ball lightning. i already have 8 one drop damage spells.
I made the deck, it's posted at the top of this thread, of course im open to suggestions.
Im unsure of the Earthquake. It's nice against a weenie deck, but it sometimes feels too slow to be really useful. If I were to drop all 3 Earthquakes, I'm considering adding 1 more Akoum Firebird, 1 more Fireblast, and 1 more Mountain.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Against a weenie deck Flamebreak is probably better than Earthquake.
I really don't like Browbeat. I get that, since she's 5, her opponents are unlikely to maximize the decision as much as adults will. Still. It's not a good burn card and it's more complex than burn needs to be. There are many other options.
For creatures, is Monastery Swiftspear with Prowess more complex than you want to get? It does make the math much harder when factoring in blockers and what spells to save for when.
If she wants something permanent (unlike Ball Lightning), what about Ash Zealot or Valley Dasher or Boggart Ram-Gang? Those are all high power level budget haste creatures.

here are the cards im considering:
thats 30 cards. Im also thinking about disintegrate, earthquake, and Pyroclasm.
are there any lands that are good to ramp up red, or useful in burn decks?
please keep in mind that her playgroup consists mostly of her older sister, who plays the green regeneration deck in my signature.
thanks for your input.

Some good inclusions could be:
Mana Flare
Reverberate
Ball Lightning
Searing Blood
Monestary Swiftspear
The swiftspear is a few bucks each, but its new enough I figure you probably have some.
i like the searing blood suggestion, thanks.
i like the 'fire breathing' effect that the dragon whelps and shivan dragons have, but Im considering dropping the shivan dragons and putting in 2 thundermares instead.
