I'm looking to make a casual list that utilizes Kaladesh's mechanic. Aethersquall Ancient looks like a potent finisher.
There are several creatures that generate energy when they ETB, so I'm considering cards like Aether Theorist and Peel from Reality for tempo/energy ramp.
I haven't decided on colors for this deck yet.
G: Some mana ramp/acceleration might be nice, as Ancient costs 5UU. Mana rocks or green ramp spells.
B: Black lets me play Demon of Dark Schemes (read: Demon of Dank Memes), which seems like a good soft sweep, threat, and energy generator. the 3BBB is slightly prohibitive in a 2- or 3-color deck. Aether Hub can help with that.
To reuse all the ETB energy creatures, Decoction Module, Crystal Shard and Equilibrium (aka budget Cloudstone Curio) all seem like great tools. They are reusable, flexible, and may be hard to remove unless your opponents play a lot of enchantment and artifact removal.
Green gives you good ramp to hit 7 mana and alternate uses for that energy if you don't draw the big Ancient. The green ramp synergizes with Architect of the Untamed (makes energy with Landfall).
If you want to stay in UR for Whirler Virtuoso and Harnessed Lightning, then I'd recommend playing Panharmonicon. Whirler Virtuoso makes infinite Thopters and infinite energy with Panharmonicon + 2 Decoction Module or 2 Panharmonicon + Decoction Module. Dynavolt Tower might be another good outlet for energy or way to build up energy with the spells you're playing in UR.
Any of the combos work. The nice thing about b and c is that they make infinite Thopters and infinite energy! (4 energy produced per iteration, instead of 3). Also, they don't involve getting 3 copies of the same card in play (which has lower odds than finding 2 and 1 of something). Then of course you can win with something like Reckless Fireweaver or just combat damage step.
If you add Panharmonicon to your decklist, then you have many ways to "go off" and it should be easier.

R: Red gives me a way to give my creatures haste (Hammer of Purphoros) as well as access to more nifty ETB critters (Flametongue Kavu). Harnessed Lightning is pretty good.

W: Aetherstorm Roc and Consul's Shieldguard seem good. I also get access to okay removal (Oblivion Ring) and ETB critters (Reflector Mage).
Has anyone experienced fun or success at their kitchen table with this new mechanic?
Curfew maybe? Crystal Shard bounces too.
Wizards designed Decoction Module for this combo, obviously.
Spellstutter Sprite has a powerfull ETB, not very original though.
I'ld go for signets for acceleration.
Thriving Turtle doesn't seem to bad vs aggro. Glimmer of Genius looks fair too.
These are the decks that I have constructed, and are ready to play:
01. Ankh Sligh to be exact.
What I have so far. Still feels like a pile.
Also considering Conflagrate, as it gives me something to do late game with a full hand after Aethersquall Ancient bounces everything else.
I like what green offers:
Green gives you good ramp to hit 7 mana and alternate uses for that energy if you don't draw the big Ancient. The green ramp synergizes with Architect of the Untamed (makes energy with Landfall).
4 Thriving Turtle
4 Sage of Shaila's Claim
4 Servant of the Conduit
4 Architect of the Untamed
4 Bristling Hydra
3 Aethersquall Ancient
4 Curfew
4 Attune with Aether
4 Cultivate
2 Glimmer of Genius
//Artifacts: 3
2 Decoction Module
1 Crystal Shard
4 Aether Hub
10 Forest
6 Island

You can get infinite Thopters with either:
a) 3 Decoction Module + 1 Whirler Virtuoso
b) 2 Decoction Module + 1 Panharmonicon + 1 Whirler Virtuoso
c) 1 Decoction Module + 2 Panharmonicon + 1 Whirler Virtuoso
Any of the combos work. The nice thing about b and c is that they make infinite Thopters and infinite energy! (4 energy produced per iteration, instead of 3).
