It's kind of a weird one. It's technically always going to be worse than Control Magic, right? You want to have some kind of sacrifice outlet available for either card, really, in case they go to destroy it. But, if they're foolish or desperate enough to activate this ability, draw 2 + Discard 2 + Kill their dude is a lot of value.
Soul Random- the wording sounds iffy- "soul ransom's controller sacrifice it" that sounds like an opponent discards two card to sacrifice the aura, not the creature- there's no mention of the enchanted creature. so one could argue either way. Eh, give me Spinal Embrace.
Ghave- if only they'd bring back Spikes. Spikes would have thrived in the Proliferate era. This guy would have fun with Spike Breeder.

There is no mention of the enchanted creature, the ability is all about the aura: the discard is to make the aura go away and get back the creature.

That's why you absolutely need to have an Altar of Dementia in play, to hold a gun to your hostage's head. If they activate the ability, you activate yours.
Ghave's alright, there's kind of a sadness in that he's never used fairly though. Always some kind of infinite combo with him. Never a fun Thallid deck
combo with Absolute Grace, and you have a situation that has multiple repercussions. creatures can't block or be blocked, can't be damaged or targetted by other creatures... yah. good times

Eh, it's an entirely moot card. who still utilizes Landwalk abilities? outside of Ernham-geddon decks, there are better aura's.

a mana battery with reach... okay. don't know if you'd ever use it to blocked, unless your mana base was already fixed... there are better creatures with Reach.

Eh, quirion elves does the job for one less mana. Mana dorks aren’t made for blocking
