Kind of nice to have birds that kill themselves when Soulcatchers' Aerie is a thing. It can also be nice to pop an echo creature with a good ETB under your Mimic Vat
Semi-efficient value creature that carries equipment well. If Baleful Strix is the comparison point for this kind of creature, the Imp lags behind, but he's still a better rate than something like Gravedigger (tribal synergies aside.) Pit Keeper is quite a bit too unreliable even if it's 2cmc, so for Raise Dead + Body, Imp might be a solid choice.

so... we have Treasure tokens that can be sac'd for mana. Clues that can be sac'd for draw... i'd have to investigate the 'investigate ability, but it just seems moot.

Crypt Rats can benefit from both (though not at the same time, since this card won't let you) keywords and sometimes even from the toughness boost. I don't think this is the best source for either, but at just one mana, it might be the cheapest one if you've got a lot of card generation.
Umezawa's Jitte, the Fork of Doom, was designed without the -1/-1 bit, but development decided, that the signature weapon of the black alligned samurai should have something of a black flavor. Thus was born one of the most broken cards of its day, one that had to be banned in Standard. At least, with the legend rule of the time, one could answer a Jitte with one's own, removing both.
Jitte vs Skullclamp- which was more broken.
i'd hate to see Jitte in a proliferate deck, because we all know a broken mechanic makes broken cards better!
Fire/Ice- i liked the simplicity of the original split cards; then they got complicated with Fuse and other set mechanics...

I don't think it's worth paying 6 mana for this effect, but it could be worth it if you combine it with something like Deadeye Navigator.

quite a useful card so many years ago. Even some tournament decks used it in their sideboard.
