The 5/04/18 random card of the day is Sengir Autocrat. If you have any comments, combos or a decklist involving this card, feel free to share. It's one of the few Homelands cards to get reprinted.
Well, t's an easy way to pay the alternative cost of Delraich or Demon of Death's Gate to bring them out on turn 4 (or even earlier with some accelleration).
SELVAXRI! King of Misfortune & Master of Rocket Launchers "Do ya feel lucky? Because you'd better start runnin' while you still can." 375 Misfortune {+3 signed AP's} & 104 Rocket Launcher (41 AQ/ 63 Rev) Edgar Rice Burroughs, forgotten legend of the word.
Or... from that era, you can play it with Ashnod's Altar to double your mana treating it like a colorless pseudo-Ritual. For period correctness, you can even use the awful Homelands filter lands.

Not exactly. Pyknite has that annoying delay. You don't get the card until next upkeep. The only thing decent about it is it helps you survive Hymn to Tourach type effects.
That said, I have a hard time playing this type of card for the ETB. I tend to favor cards that let me scrye.
Re: Gnat Miser- i had an idea for a deck years ago, where you DonateThought Devourer and the like to reduce an opponent's handsize; this was back before Mirrorweave was printed. Still, I'd love to see a deck that does this. "And... we all have no hands. Let's enjoy this situation, until someone topdecks a Damnation."
Sunlance is a weird colorshift. Sure, Strafe is a decent burn spell; but i'm thinking that it was a "safe choice" for a colorshift. Can't make sense to colorshift a straight up damage spell- a black Jagged Lightning? a blue Flame jet? a green Pyrotechnics?! but a "restricted" damage spell- that's a-okay!

I run four of his unrelated cousins, Skyshroud Sentinel in my Elf deck- because four 1/1 for free is fun, with Aluren though they tend to sit in my hand until i drop the aluren or a Priestess or Cradle. Though, i feel this Pack Hunt ability is overcosted, especially for vanilla creatures. Who'd pay 2GG for 2/2 after you'd fetch the others? no one.
Compared to his other unrelated cousin, Nesting Wurm, a 4/3 for 6 is a stretch, now that one could be compared to Fangren Hunter or even Stampeding Rhino. Odds are, no one would want to pay an extra 2 to clutter your hand when there are "better" creatures out there.
Deck thinning is good, but without someway to discard the clutter or to get them out faster (MIND MAGGOTS?!), these creatures seldom saw play outside discard oriented decks.

I can never quite get this card to play the way I want it to.
If I was so far ahead in card advantage, I usually wasn't very interested in effectively cycling the cards in my hand. If I'm behind, I usually don't want to cycle my opponents hand.

Though, in the right kind of deck- some free tokens can do wonders. Culling the Weak? Phyrexian Altar? Goblin Bombardment?

The best success I've had with this card is to play it with cards like:
Underworld Dreams
Booby Trap
Breathstealer's Crypt
I haven't tried it with cards like
Phyrexian Tyranny
Psychosis Crawler
I tried it with Chains of Mephistopheles but it got pretty ugly pretty quickly.
Notion Thief could be fun with this card.
