Hey everyone! I've been working on aUR Mad Scientist deck for a while now, and I'm looking to add some interactions that would trip up my opponent
The basic engine runs on Eventide cards, specifically Riverfall Mimic, Noggle Bandit, and Clout of the Dominus. Of course, my blockbusters are Dominus of Fealty and Mindwrack Leige, though they sometimes throw off my mana curve.
Anyways, the basic idea is to use blue to draw and red to burn, coupled with unblockable creatures. However, I've noticed that blue and red have a nice amount of creature and permanent steals. As of now, I'm running Temporary Insanitys (I know, not the best, but I had a playset laying around) and a Dream Leash, but I'm thinking of upping my theft ability. Can anyone help me find the most efficient creature/permanent steals for blue and red? Also, what do you think of my deck? If there's interest, I'll post the list as it is now.
Thanks everyone!

You likely want the Casual Magic subforum as opposed to the Vintage subforum, this is for competitive Type 1 decks (with Black Lotus and the like.)
To answer your question, at least in part, the most efficient blue Control Magic effects are Treachery, followed by Control Magic.
Right, sorry about that! If any mods stumble upon this thread, please move it to the casual forum. My bad.
I like both your suggestions, especially Treachery in spite of it's high cost. Control Magic is a classic boon, but has the same CMC as my Temporary Insanity. I'm really looking for something in a two or three drop, even if the effect is only temporary. That said, Treachery would be a good replacement for my Dream Leash!
IF your run UR and are looking for a good way to take the opponents creatures it's maybe worth looking into Goblin Electromancer along with Act of Treason and Fling.
With two of the goblin you can take control of a creature, attack and then sac it to deal damage equal to it's power for two red mana.
It's also worth mentionning that Fling works very well with Dominus.

I like this strategy a lot! I'll definitely be tossing in a playset of Fling when I can find it. I've already got the Goblin in there (pulled two in my first few packs of Return :D) If I wasn't so attached to my Eventide UR creatures, I'd morph this into a Type 2 deck.
As for Act of Treason, I have some Treacherous Instincts, to give the stolen creature +2/+0, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind for when I'm figuring the mana curve.
Thanks for all the tips guys! I'm gonna fiddle around in Lackey to find a good deck list. Suggestions are still welcome!
If you could slip a lil' white into the mix (from duals, of course) there's Brion Stoutarm, which is not only a continual Fling on a stick, ut net you life. You can also feed the stolen good to a Greater Gargadon.
Hmm, I actually have a copy of the Trader, but I'm not seeing how such a combo would work. Care to explain?
You use the Trader's ability on a permanent that you control until EoT (via Act of Treason and the like) targeting yourself, thus gaining control of it permanently.
If you were to go with a list that's light on creatures (i.e. 0-8), Reins of Power would be hilarious. Also look into Zealous Conscripts. On the conscripts, the word "permanent" is especially important. "What's that? Your Nicol Bolas just reached 11 loyalty counters? Let me know how his ultimate feels."
you can also use your single turn steals and turn them into permanent steals with bazaar trader
This is a fantastic suggestion if you are already running Dominus of Fealty. Flash it into play at the end of your opponent's turn with your Liege, and proceed to start permanently controlling things.
3/1/2010: You may target yourself with Bazaar Trader's ability. Normally, this won't have any visible effect. However, the ability would override an effect with a limited duration that gave you control of a permanent. For example, if you temporarily gained control of a creature with Act of Treason, targeting yourself and that creature with Bazaar Trader's ability would then cause you to gain control of the creature indefinitely.

As for some regular suggestions:
Volition Reins is a standard suggestion--not too bad, and if you can play Dominus, you will probably have the UUU for this card as well. Confiscate is the generic permanent stealer. Memnarch might be nice in conjunction with Liquimetal Coating, although this might require a dedicated deck.
In addition to bazaar trader, you can use Conjurer's Closet. The closet's ability will resolve before the "until end of turn" happens. The closet's ability states that the creature comes back under your control so it will make any temporary steal effect permanent.
Closet is more expensive mana wise but it is less fragile than bazaar trader. Also if you happen to have creatures with "enter the battlefield" abilities you can abuse them with the closet.

Wait for them to declare attackers, steal one and block with the other.
Old school group, sometimes more beer than cards. Revised thru Tempest block (and a little of Urza), sorry if I don't know all the new cards
