And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - Nevermore!
The disadvantage of course is that you lose a creature just like your opponent. To really abuse this creature and get card advantage out of it you need to be able to exile multiple creatures without losing too many cards yourself.
I think splinter twin would be pretty nuts. Whenever your opponent attacks tap the spider to create a copy and then exile the copy instead of the original. You would have to use something like lightning greaves, generals kabutowhispersilk cloak or protective bubble to ensure your opponent doesnt just kill the spider once you enchant it with splinter twin.

Why waste time thinking when you can spend it smashing.
Adding fire automatically makes everything awesome.
If you activate if, rhen target you spder with an Erratic Portal, the spider will bounce, instead of exiling. Or you could sacrifice it, or whatevs, and it goes to graveyard instead.
I used Mangara, of Corondor similarily in my Alesha who smiles at death EDH deck.
I have had this card in the back of my mind for ages, but I just can't think of a use for it other than a rattlesnake in multiplayer games. Any ideas?
Something like Suicidal Charge to induce attacking, and maybe Rings of Brighthearth to get the most of out each spider? Also, Hunting Kavu is functionally identical if you wanted essentially 8 copies in a deck, and Mangara of Corondor is in the same vein.
