I thought a deck like this has potential to be a lot of fun. There is also something about giving Infect to something like Lord of Shatterskull Pass that makes me giddy...as always, any suggestions are more than welcome! Thanks!
Training Grounds reduces the cost to lvl them by 2, and Lighthouse Chronologist will let you take an extra turn after every endstep that it is not yours at lvl 7 (it only costs to lvl, too)
I believe the reason he is using prolifeate instead of training grounds, as people have done, is because some of our best leveler targets have low costs such as u for cronologist and r for dragonlord. However, I feel like you need to take out the infect equipment for something that will either A push the central theme further, B and good reliable consistant removal, or C that will trigger off proliferate in a more broken way.
Any suggestions for specific cards, blindmarksman? Would Unsummon be something like what you're talking about, in terms of removal? And how could we make it more broken...?
have you thought about using bounce effects like into the roil or even Tenser's first ability to bounce or phase venerated teacher to play him over and over again? Also, in blue and red your choices are really bounce and burn, since you can't use counter spells in a a level up deck, your doing everything in your mainphases.
Ive been looking into other ways we can use proliferate to our advantage and I feel like ratchet bomb may be a good removal answer. We will be able to crank it up as fast as we need to, even if we draw it later in the game, and it will help us clear the air if we need to get thrumming birds through. A fun note is that against tokens you can play it and sac it immediately to kill all tokens Lux cannon also works well, and lux cannon can also keep us quite content. Between lux cannon and contagion clasp, we can keep the board pretty clear. I believe We should lcange out the myr for a play set of everlowing chalice, as thi can provide mroe mana via thrumming bird, contagion clasp and steady progress, we can hagve up to 7 mana on turn four if we go turn two thrumming bird, turn three chalice swing, turn three steady progress. for the deck and really look at what level up cards are gonna win us the game and which are novelty. I also am starting to think that we need to change the color base to become competitive Ill have a deck list for blue white and blue black in a day or two.
I would be willing to exchange the Grafted Exoskeletons with Lux Cannon or Ratchet Bomb. I was leaning towards Lux Cannon but you're right about Ratchet Bomb and tokens....Though Lux Cannon doesn't require you to sac it... Ratchet Bomb can also hit creatures with shroud since it doesn't target anyone.
Hah this thread is old, but If some one will try this in the future: Contentious Plan is better than steady progress (not an instant, but cost less). With War of the Spark here there's many proliferate options such as maybe include Flux Channeler.
From the same set, you may consider Teferi's time twist if you do go for Venerated Teacher
Also Tezzeret's Gambit is worth considering, that extra card can make all the difference.And for sidebord, you may want removal and Volt Charge is a good option, but your Mage may be good at that.

As for determining which creatures win you the game...I would argue that Lord of Shatterskull Pass, Lighthouse Chronologist and Kargan Dragonlord could be considered wincons.
And though it isn't a leveler, Cytoplast Manipulator is really good with Proliferate.
No idea if there's any restrictions on sets that your playgroup uses, but why not use Rings of Brighthearth? Rings + Contagion Engine = Insanity.
