Hey, all. So I've been blanking on a new deck to plan/build. I don't wanna spend any large amount of money on Naya, UW Control, most Mill, etc. I want to make a fun deck that does well in a relaxed environment.
So then I found the Clockwork creatures. I immediately thought back to Thran Turbine, which I had wanted to use for my Level deck before I realised Leveling was Sorc speed.... And Turbine would work great with the Clockworks, I think.
What other synergistic cards/land bases can you all think of? I'm thinking Urza's lands + Cloudposts plus others...
Thanks preemptively for the help!
NOTE: Just in case you didn't read it above, I am NOT looking to spend major bucks on this fun little project.
Especially with mana burn gone, Braid of Fire is a great upkeep mana generator.
Actually I just saw the price of them. Man, I remember getting them supercheap when they first came out. I'll try to think of some good cards that can use mana during upkeep.
And of course anything that helps them untap after "reloading" could be useful. ... Uh... Thinking... Is seedborn muse too expensive? I guess there's also umbra mantle but that could make the deck really expensive to run effectively.

In order to save time:
YES that's a cool ability
NO I don't think that this apparently broken card will dominate the format or ruin the game
YES I've been wrong before
YES if things turn out differently I'll owe you an apology
NO you can't have it in writing
YES that might make getting you that apology difficult
Ahaha! Clockworks, so fun, so devious! Definitely keep us updated when you get a working list. A few card suggestions:
Rosheen Meanderer works very nicely with the older clockworks with {X} in their upkeeps. She's got a good P/T/CMC ratio and is a budget card to boot!
Gilder Bairn works nicely with the newer clockwork creatures, though its hard for him to play with the more limited variety.
Mirrorweave can function as a Wrath of God for all opponents if cast on one of your 0/0 Clockwork creatures.
Scarecrone can recycle clockworks in the graveyard.
Expedition Map is a nice, colorless way to find your -tron pieces/cloudposts.
Scourglass-while not specifically Clockwork related, might make for a nice surprise.
Plaxcaster Frogling as well as other Simic cards give the newer Clockwork beasties some nice options. Shroud along with a good P/T/CMC ratio makes the Frog especially worthwhile IMO.
Finally! Ixidron is a favorite of mine. He flips over your clockworks, so they'll become 2/2's + however many +1/+1 counters they have!
Hope this helps! As I said, keep us updated.

Maybe I'm missing the subtle nuances of these clockwork creatures, but I think cards like Energy Chamber would be very useful. Maybe Bounty of Hunt...at least for the critters that do something when a counter is removed. Ion Storm seems like it has a little potential to be helpful if you're looking for stuff that can remove those counters.
Those are just a few cards that came to mind after looking over the clockwork cards.
(I too am very interested to see what you'll ultimately come up with.)

What about the Modular creatures?
Mycosynth Golem
