Lemme' know what you think, and please make budget recommendations. I used to have Elvish Spirit Guides in here, but never liked them much. Quirion Ranger, OTOH, is GOLD in here. Sometimes I borrow a buddy's Mox Emerald, that's fun :).
- Please, only uber-budget recommendations with newer cards...I don't have a budget for this game anymore. Nothing more thatn $0.50 to (maybe) $1.00 a card. Particularly, multi-player improvements would be *****in'.
- I'm an old school player, '94 - '02...Revised - Urza's Saga(ish). Now, the old group is playing again a little. We're very casual, 1on1 & multis, Type 1, old rules ("stack"). Sometimes more beer than cards .
Good point. I forgot to mention that I'm looking to pickup a set of Rancor (which were nickel commons when we stopped playing ).
Not sure what I'd get rid of for them. Maybe a Bounty of the Hunt, a Stampede Driver and a couple of Mtenda Lions. I used to have 4 Ghazban Ogre, they were good too. I've stuck in the Skyshroud Ridgebacks to see if they're better. We'll see...
Ya I was gonna mention the ogres too. I couldn't remember what they were called when I was typing my first post. haha
And I played the ridgebacks in my old green beats, they werent too bad. I'd prolly run the ogres over them though.
I believe that both are better than Mtenda lion and the ridgeback.
Cool...I like 'em. Tattermunge is the budget choice that's basically equal to Jungle Lion...I'll pick up a set. Not sure if they'd be better than Ghazban Ogres, which I'm getting the feeling is superior to the Skyshroud Ridgeback :-/. I have a set of Wild Dogs too, which were "okay", but not better than the Ghazban that were the staple for years.
scythe tiger - The shroud is good, and bad. In the end, he's out b/c can't get pumped :-(. dryad arbor - Cool, getting 4. magus of the vineyard(he is SO good now that there is no more mana burn) - we play old rules, mana burn is fundamental to the game. Might be interesting in my green ramp, with Killer Bees (already have some Eladamri's Vineyard in there...more for the opponent mana burnage would be cool). nettle sentinel - Could be very good. Looks to be fill the Ridgeback or Ghazban spot. twinblade slasher - Ooooh, I dig. He wants to be avoided. Perfect Giant Growth target. Could replace...hmmm, not sure, the sprites? bramblewood paragon - Would be cool in an elf'ish build of this. pendelhaven - Awesome, they remade this? I never had any. Not great synergy with Quirion Ranger or Rogue Elephant, but, perhaps a 2'fer?
Sweet...thank you!
Nixed out the ones 2cc+ cards...not sure they can be supported w/ 10 land. Maybe...I mean, I just went up from 8 to 10 land...maybe I could do a few 2ccs...
...would I have to boot Rogue Elephant if I wanted to support 2cc critters? He's the MVP most times I play him.
If you're considering 2cc creatures, Albino Troll?
The echo would prolly be more of a set back since this is 10-land stompy. Aaand your running the elephant.

And a 2cc regen
I'd really need a couple 4x's of 2ccs that'd make it worthwhile to nix the Rogue Elephant too...
Lotus Cobra would be near-orgasmic with the Quirion Ranger.
Tweaked my old 8-land stompy into this:
10 Forest
4 Land Grant
1 Lotus Petal / Mox Emerald
Critters (27)
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Quirion Ranger
4 Rogue Elephant
4 Skyshroud Ridgeback
4 Mtenda Lion
4 Taunting Elf
3 Ghazban Ogres
4 Giant Strength
4 Seal of Strength
4 Briar Shield
4 Rancor
3 Bounty of the Hunt
