I feel like I needed to do a better job with the posting of my deck.
To begin with, you're right, The three missing cards are svogthos. I think When I transfered the deck to the messege board I forgot that the land representing the oldest guildmaster wasn't legendary.
second the main way for making child of alara die is to play a second child of alara, which I did not mention. The recursion is for getting child of alara(s) out of the graveyard and playing it again to make things die, or recuring the time of need so you can search for it again. This I also did not mention.
you're correct in pointing out that the deck doesn't have a lot of win conditions, so I this isn't really a complaint, but since i'm replying anyway I feel like I ought to point out that svogthos isn't the only one. I had a couple of creatures that, are or can become indestructible to attack with after child of alara made the blockers hopefully die.
Again, all of this is pretty much my own fault for poor deck presentation, and I doubt it would have changed the score much anyway, but if I notice I didn't explain myself well I feel compelled to clarify.
I have my judgment ready but I won't post it, as I have yet to solve two little problems of supply that I'd like to have solved before ending the 'season'. sorry.

Thank you, that makes a whole lot more sense, I feel bad myself, I should have looked at the decks more closely before judging started, as it was, I only spotted that when I got to your deck.

Hey, and no prize for second place?;)
Nah, those were some fun weeks, good job Parabola1 and Blutsau, it was really entertaining.
Now, if I just had revised my deck before time was up... or at least mask of the mimic
Congratulations Anansi for the ultimate prize .
@Blutsau: I propose that Anansi's name be added in the title of the thread, something like; season 1 champion: Anansi.
@Anansi: as the winner, maybe you should commemorate this in your sig, something like;
{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e} Winner season 1 - Casual deckbuilding contest
{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}{e}
My sig talent is quite limited as you see :-/...
And congratulations to Post Affinity as well, both you guys were there for each and every round except the ones you judged; that's what I call dedication, only fitting that you both are at the top. It was a long and closely fought season, with almost a photo finish as you both got snagged a bit in that last hurdle.
Thank you Blutsau and Parabola01 for making the casual section of this site much more involving.
...
Now should we declare a litle off-season? say a couple of weeks breather?
I also propose that a new thread should be started for season 2.
Primary and only casual rule: "any rule that is fine for the most part of the playgroup, is a fine rule". So any further thread with: "if somebody uses/does .... in a casual game, is it ethical/ok?", read the answer above.
- Being a "Johnny/Spike" means you like self-torture. You win often in casual, so everybody hates you; you loose often in competitive, so you hate yourself.
actually, I think I won partially because I'm one of the only ones who competed every week. I'd noticed for quite some time that I was in the lead for the totals and thought it kind of made up for the fact that for most of the contest I never won, until I realized that my score was high partly because I never won, and therefore never had to take a week off. :-p wasn't expecting a prize though. Thats an awesome topper for an awesome contest that parabloa1 and blutsau have been putting on every week.
I'll probably try to commemorate round one in my sig somehow eventually, but since I rarely post on the board these days except in this thread, it might be a while before I get around to it. Its kind of the same reason I haven't linked the thread in my sig yet. when we start the new thread the rest of you will have to change what your sigs link to.
congratulations to hammer for winning this round. this means he gets to pick the first card for the next season, right?
First, I forgot about Hammer in my last post, so congratulations to you sir :toot:.
Now on to some more serious stuff...
If you guys want to start season 2 right away, then it's fine with me, I just suggested an off-season because I thought since we only had 6 entries in the last round that you guys we're getting weary or jaded ;).
Listen, I want to tell you, since Blutsau will be leaving us soon we'll need a new head judge/threadstarter; as for myself, I don't go to school and so have no exams in the near or far future, I have a steady and secure govt job and have most of my evenings to myself (right after I put my daughter to bed), so if you guys agree, I can be that person.
Next we'll need to decide what judging system we want; either a fixed judge system (we'll need 2 extra judges besides myself) or go with a multi-judging system where anybody can post scores.
I don't really want us to argue over systems and run this thread into the ground, so I'll offer a kind of olive branch if you will:
I volunteer for judging duty and if, in the next 24 hrs, 2 others commit to full-time judging duty (2 because we'll need that extra one if, as judges, we also want to post decks), then we'll go with fixed judging.
If on the other hand, we come up short, then we'll need to go with multi-judging which requires no fixed commitment from round to round.
When and if we agree, either one way or the other, then Hammer can PM me his choice of card for the 1st round of season 2 and I'll launch the new thread a couple of days after (gotta have some time to polish up the new rules and all ).
Could we consider fixed judging + judges can post decks, as earlier described? Basically, just don't judge your own deck, and we'll go with average points for each round instead of total points for each round.
In that case, I'd be willing to be a fixed judge. Of course, I've never won a round, so I'd understand if people don't think I should be.

Just an announcement that season 2 will start Monday march 9th, with a brand new thread.
I've got the system figured out, not quite fixed judging, not quite multi-judging, with unified and simplified judging criteria; I think you'll all like it, but I know it's hard to please everybody, eh?
Hammer, if you can PM me your choice of card for round 1 of season 2 before monday comes around, if not I'll choose one myself. You can pick any card in the Magic universe, it doesn't have to be the lattest expansion.
Til monday y'all.

No, sorry, not a poll, I put "voting" instead of "judging".
Fixed.
A poll would be quite simple I agree, but would maybe be a liitle more difficult since you can only have one at the top of a thread so I would have to start a new thread every round if I read this correctly. And anyways a poll would give absolutely no details, which contenders are hungry for, it seems...

OK, fdtori, I submitted my card choice to you via PM. Let me know if it is acceptable or not. I assume that I am exempt from the next contest? I can give my criticism of the submissions, but sadly have no time to actually build and playtest the decks.

What do you think?
In that case, I'd be willing to be a fixed judge. Of course, I've never won a round, so I'd understand if people don't think I should be.

Fixed.
A poll would be quite simple I agree, but would maybe be a liitle more difficult since you can only have one at the top of a thread so I would have to start a new thread every round if I read this correctly. And anyways a poll would give absolutely no details, which contenders are hungry for, it seems...
