I'm writing a small tad on that articale that I read in the new InQuest about the upcoming (or possible upcoming..I don't remeber) format called Type 0?
For those that don't know, it's easy. No banned or restricted list on any non-gold bordered cards. So Black Lotus and the Moxes can be 4 of's.
Personally, I think that's sick and disgusting that someone could have 4 of ea potential P9 in their deck. But hey. If you spend that kind of money you might as well have the opportunity.
As far as a casual gamer I rarely played games with a B/R list anyway. My MtG group only outlawed the Un-Sets. Anything else was game. I like that. 4 Sol Rings. 4 Demonic Tutors. 4 Tinkers. So now I have an official tournament type that I can say that I follow! Granted unless I hit the Lotto I wouldn't be playing in tournaments for this type. But that's not the point. I think that this gives more credence to truly casual gamers.
For now on I'm Type 0 only!!
I'm not necessarily expecting replies to this, but feel free if you want

You know, I'm pretty sure if there was ever a sex tape of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that got leaked to the public, watching it would cure people of cancer. I'm ****ing serious. Either that or make their eyes bleed for they have seen the true face of God.
*Bam*
and Sappy's dream of being tourny legal is blown away...
Type 0 would indeed be rather interesting... personally I would like them to create a sanction multiplayer tourny stuff... that would be interesting. "oh you're a world champion? Everyone! Please kill him"

LOl the joke surrounding Type 0 (zero, not the blood type) has been running for years. Zero banned and zero restricted.
In many cases it actually isn't a joke, but how most people play casual. Keeping in mind that most casual gamers never even heard of a B/R list, and have no idea what a type 2 tourny is.
That's my old friends in NJ.
I can't wait to go home
Any deck with 4 rings or 4 tinkers is quite stupid anyway.
Making statements like above is quite stupid anyway. Just because you don't play with a group of people that don't use the B/R list doesn't mean that it's stupid. I have a deck with 4 Tinker and 2 Sol Ring...does that make me stupid? In a metagame w/o a B/R anything is possible.

It's already been determined by R&D that fully unrestricted competitive Magic degenerates into who wins the coin flip.
So, play deckless Type 0. All you need is a coin... :tongue2:
A few of us in my playgroup have random games of "Pro Tour: Rome" (the one before Academy, Time Spiral etc. were banned in Type 2 - ie. the height of Combo Winter). Basically, we each roll a die and determine the overall outcome of the match based on the difference in rolls. :grin2:
Forget the tournament level game play that a Type 0 would provide. It was be ridiculous given enough $$$. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was a sucker. so sue me
But in a casual environment I think that are a lot of groups that don't use the B/R list. That doens't mean the games end on turn 1. Trust me. My group has never played using the B/R list. We play multiplayer chaos games for the most part. There have been times where we say turn 1 kills (hell, I was usually the one pulling those off) but those are the exception.
Those decks aren't fun. They have a novelty factor that most people appreciate sure. It's kinda cool to see turn 1 kills. Especially in a 4-5 player game. But who wants to play that kinda deck all the time? Booorrriiinnnggggg. We'll have tough decks for sure, but in the games I play having 4 Tinkers, 4 Sol Rings, and 4 Darksteel Colossus' do not ensure a victory. Too many Swords, Dust to Dust, Energy Field, CoP: Artifact etc going on for that to happen. I have a deck with the above style, although I don't have all 4 of each. Wouldn't matter anyway. I'd kill one person, maybe 2 before they'd get smoked. In a 1-1 game it might be a different story.
That's just my $.02 though.

Well, type 0 is primarily a casual, real life format. Playing type 0 on appr would be incredibly broken. However, back when I played type 0, there were no Yawgies wills, no necropotences. There was a single tinker deck, but it wasnt very good. I won the two rounds of 4 player type 0 I played, with goblins and with t2 UG control.
Type 0 is all about Storm combo and pitch counters. Seriously, there was a type 0 tournament on O-gaming.com last summer, and there were 5 Mind's Desire decks, 2 Fish, and a Tog deck in the top8. $30,000 99% turn one kill rates are mad tech :).
Given enough $$$ a Type 0 Format for tournaments would be silly. I never thought otherwise. It would be the whoever wins the coin toss type of game. I just thought it would be nice to have an actual format to say I played. Besides "no B/R list" when I post decks, etc. I do think that there are a lot of casual groups that run "Type 0". Whether it's supposed to be made up or not. It's still played. And as far as I see from a lot of posts that there are tournaments out there being played.
Again all I play is no B/R and yet I don't always play Contract from Below, Yawg's Will, Mind's Desire, Tendrils of Agaony, etc. In fact, I rarely play those cards. I suppose that there are plenty of people that have absolutely no imagination or creativity and that's all the can come up with. I feel sorry for those people. Casual by definition means that you don't need to follow the B/R rules. The house rules can be whatever you and your group decide.
An efficient deck in Type 0. Well, what exactly are you asking for non-the-road? Lots of Moxes and Loti I'd imagine for those type of turn 1 kills.
As far as people that play casual games. how many people play w/o the B/R list? How many people play w/ the B/R list? How many play both? Are there are problems involved with playing with no B/R in your area?

playing w/out a Br list is usually not an issue since most casual players do not own power. And if they do it is rare that they would own multiples of a given card. And if they do, i doubt they are using them in casual...
I've run type zero decks in multiplayer. Yeah how broken is 4x jinxed choker with 4x enlightened tutor to fetch it. Not very broken, but a lot of fun...;)

You know what's really funny? That the blood type actually is zero.
Biology is tech
Wanna know what's funnier? I have a masters in Biology and teach bio in a high school. It's true that it's called Type O since it lacks the 2 proteins that would cause it to be either A or B (or AB) but your blood types are named after letters, not numbers. If your blood type was in fact zero, you would have no blood, and you would be dead.
Hi Someone. I actually play in a group which is Type 0. That said, we have made our own house rules. Does it work? How about, It has for the past 16 years. We also ban infinite loops. So it makes it competitive.
For those that don't know, it's easy. No banned or restricted list on any non-gold bordered cards. So Black Lotus and the Moxes can be 4 of's.
