MTG Salvation

I am most likely going to build Hapatra if I build a brawl deck at all; I was interested in here but ultimately can't justify building a second Golgari commander deck. Brawl is a different beast, though, and Haptra "steals" less cards from my Gitrog and Doran lists.

Here's what I've cooked up so far:



Basically, this deck aims to durdle super hard, hoping to resolve Path of Discovery and then make a bunch of dork tokens to explore through the deck. Eventually it will kill with fatties, Overcome-fueled swarms, or a massive Torment of Hailfire courtesy of all my explores and Growing Rites flipping.

Suggestions?

Maybe, Liliana's Influence and Liliana, Death Wielder?

I think Growing Rites of Itlimoc will be key to making this deck hum early game, so Mastermind's Acquisition could be a good additional tutor to get your big game cards when you need them. Same with Archfiend of Ifnir, you want this guy as soon as possible.

I think this format is slow enough that the tutors we have are playable, so here's my reminder that Diabolic Tutor is also Brawl legal.

I think that you may be better off cutting back, just a little, on your devotion to the -1/-1 counters theme. Sure, Splendid Agony could be really cool, but it's going to look really bad when you've got a lethal flyer staring you down and something like Vraska's Contempt would have just killed the creature outright...

Yeah the other thing is that people don't play the tutors in standard, because you can play x4 of a card, so it's not necessary. But in singleton formats these become very powerful. So it's not even that it's a slow format, it's just that you "double up" on cards. You'll get this mix of standard players who wouldn't think about Diabolic Tutor, and commander players who know the worth in singleton.

Driven // Despair looks to be a great way to refuel your hand, while the aftermath, can blow out some opponent. They are at sorcery speed, but it's just so hard to block deathtouch creatures. If they are blocking with cards that they have had to cast, then you're just out resourcing them by a lot. But you should most times have an opponent where it is profitable to attack to draw cards.

This is where I am at, first Commander I thought of immediately after the announcement. Looks like we're on the same page, made a few changes to my list after looking at this, some things I had already considered and some not. The most interesting thing was that we both had recognized the Cycling sub-theme. Archfiend of Ifnir is one of the best enablers I believe

Updated list, starting to feel like something.

Key to the City feels like a staple for the deck. It's so important to be able to attack with Hapatra through grounders, and it naturally synergizes with Ruthless Sniper and Archfiend of Ifnir. I mention it because I didn't see decks on MTG Golgfish use it yet.

Hello people, i made a list based on Archfiend of ifnir, many cards with recycle and i need opinions!

I'd say building around Archfiend is too dangerous. You won't draw the card every game, so if you want to make synergies in your deck, you want to do it with your commander.

I think that's how the deck is built by the way : 1/-1 counters synergy with Hapatra.
