**In the Northeastern District of Sylvan, in one of the larger townhouses nestled on a quiet but still fashionable side street, those who were in the know--and this was a very select group indeed--were doing what men and women in Sylvan do best; enjoying the night.
In a dozen different rooms on three separate floors, the elite of the elite of Bakara whiled away their evening in gossip, glamor, and drink. Once in a while, tastefully discreet waiters would wander through the crowd, bearing platters scattered with every drink known to man, each in its own appropriate glass and its own appropriate garnish. Here a vampire might be seen, and there an elf in full ceremonial garb, and even a handful of more exotic races, brought in either as emissaries of their people or as a sort of rustic entertainment. But everywhere the sound of private conversation and public laughter rang out.**
This is OOC, and really just for fun. If you have a character who it would make sense to be in a party like this, have them come here and hang out and interact, either with NPCs or with PCs. Hang out enough, and well enough, and you might just get an HL point or two.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
Sly walked up to the house and attempted to walk into the party he had heard a couple of rich men discussing that he had been playing for. *Hopefully ThereI isn't a list... need a drink.*
**There was no-one to keep him out; the owners evidently believed that anyone well-connected enough to know how to get there was probably worth having either way.**

**Whether or not there was a list wasn't abundantly clear to Dany McElroy, which was undoubtedly a blessing. In her evening gown from the Hyperion she more than looked the part, and having ridden up on the back of a lion horse gave her more than her share of adventurer mystique, but it was all a house of cards. The dress was by far the nicest she'd even worn, she had only wandered in because she thought the noises from the party were a clear sign of ghost attack, and this was the only party she had ever been to that didn't involve goat milking before and barn dancing after.
Still, the fact remained that this was the first elegant party Dany had been to since leaving the foothills, and dammit she was not going to mess this up. She was even going to drink wine....blugh, this is what wine tastes like? It's like a bunch grapes had a family reunion and everybody got sad.**
Thankful for his good fortune Sly walked through the door and deftly picked up a martini off the tray of a passing waiter. He looked around for anyone who looked interesting, hopefully in a seating area, he was exhausted.
Herschell was already there, trying to flag down a waiter to take his empty wine glass away while also wearing far too much makeup for a man. He approached Sly, who looked like just the sort who might appreciate the junk that Herc peddles.
"You look like an interesting sort! What brings you to this party?"
Epic World! Because seriously! It's the awesome!
And don't forget to do your shopping at The Newe Haberdashery, the finest vendor of magic items and oddball services ... Ever!
Sly tipped his top hat to the man before removing it and casually smoothing back his hair. "Honestly I just needed a stiff drink and some civilized company. Well that and I almost always find someone at these things in need of a new suit."
**The front door opened into a "small" entrance room, wood-paneled but heavily hung with portraits and expensive-looking artwork. Relatively few people were lingering in this area, mostly a pair of pedantic-looking academics in tweed. On the stair, what was either a couple or about to become one was locked in an intimate conversation, the girl's eyes shining, the man's rather more predatory. From the doors on both sides, and up the stairs, echoed a thousand voices.**

Duana passed through the crowd, slipping through the narrow gaps and swiveling around servers. She happened to stop besides Dany when a gutty sylvan noble cut her off, leading what was likely a courtesan to some place more private. The elf gave a loud and frustrated sigh and sipped her wine.

**Nadim stood in one corner, being obliviously charming with the local ladies as his body slowly soaked in a variety of spirits and liquors.
Across the room, Quinn was looking rather uncomfortable but rather well done up in a navy tailcoat, on the arm of Tryst, who wore an elegant black dress and seemed far too at home, and far too on watch to simply be there for fun.
Even more uncomfortable than Quinn was Lumarin, who was standing stiff as a board and pulling at his collar. He was on the arm of an elderly, white haired woman in a blue dress who was mingling with the upper crust. Around her throat was a golden pendant baring the emblem of the Malakhs.**

Sly shrugged and leaned against the wall casually. "Honestly I hadn't thought on it much, I'mI the type of man touched by wanderlust. don't generally stay in one place long enough to have my own shop."

**Tryst turned to Dany and extended her hand. Her face had a pleasant smile but her eyes were sharp and accessing.**
Tryst - Trystira'Gul. Dear Quinn, who I only weeks ago had the pleasure of meeting, was kind enough to act as my escort for the event. Fortunate I was able to find a partner of his charm and...talents.

**Dany grinned, indicating herself with a jerk of her thumb.**
Dany - "Dany McElroy. Charm and talents, is it? That's good then. Thought there were even odds that whatever that bird-ape-whatever monster did to his brain was at least semi-permanent."
Quinn - It was a job I did as a favor to an old friend. It got complicated, trying to pretend it never happened. Have you seen her yet? Whoever she is?
Tryst - Yes darling, I think I just did. 3 o'clock, snowy roof.
Quinn - Yeah, I see.....****.
Tryst - What?
Quinn - The stiff on her arm is my ex-brother-in-law.

**Lumarin was pulled from his resigned boredom by her call and looked over, catching sight of Dany as Quinn surreptitiously turn his face away and half hid behind Tryst. Lumarin's head cocked to the side and he whispered something to the woman whose arm he was on as he started to pull away from her, only for her to drag him back while never taking her attention away from the sylvan noble she was talking to. Lumarin grimaced and gave Dany helpless half shrug/half wave.**

"Ahh, well. I've been taken by a touch of the old adventure bug once or twice. Did I tell you about the time I single-handedly defended a group of children from demonic potioner cultists?"

Sly gave him a look that was a little disbelieving. "Singlehandedly you say? Well you didn't tell me yet, but it sounds like the sort of thing I'd like to hear about." About that time Sly felt someone bump into him roughly and he saw a man with scaled skin hurry out the door. When he checked his belongings he found his book was missing... He did see pick up a small scrap of paper off the ground though that seemed to be a map to some forgotten store. "Well that was rude... Damn thieves."
**Without warning, Valentine bumped into Duana from behind, gasping with shock as her wine spilled all over Duana's dress.**
Valentine - "I... my sincerest..."
