The group of thieves piled into their carriage and after a brief miscommunication about who was actually going to drive the thing they were off. The carriage was enclosed by had completely open windows, allowing free discussion between those inside and anyone in the driver's bench. After heading out the west gate and crossing a bridge, the group were headed south.
It was a pleasant summer afternoon, no sign of rain and the clouds seemed to be parting for maximum warmth and brightness.
Corvus who had finally agreed to drive the carriage looked over his shoulder at the rest of the sneaky bunch. "Well that was quite the experience eh? Leave it to the guild to have our contact be a creepy and cryptic child." He said lightheartedly with a half smile.
Kage spoke back to Kaia telepathically, "No, best not to. Don't forget, we are surrounded by thieves. We are better off not showing off our talents until needed." Then back to the group "Would you really have it any other though? Secrets keep our pockets full and our lives intact." He said smiling.
Corvus nodded. "Well I do enjoy my pockets being lined... Although I can't remember ever being given a guild assignment that they didn't have a motive for... Odd that the boy didn't ask for something specific from the target."
Corvus tapped the side of his nose. "That's what I mean, they didn't tell us what they want in return for the location of this lucrative treasure trove... But you can be certain they have a stake."
"Agreed. But until the time comes that their motive becomes known, best to operate as though this is a search and retrieval with a tax on whatever we retrieve."
"Hopefully that's all it is..." Corvus spurred the horses on. "Either way, we're bound to find something of worth, and what else could a band of thieves hour for!"
Corvus thought back to the ripples and steered the carriage towards the western end of the lutherans towards the foothills. "So I guess we head for the foothills where they ripples overlap... Unless anyone thinks we should go the where the ripples emanated from instead?"
After a moment of pause, Kage speaks up in a ponderous tone "That depends. We know nothing of where we are going. We know that the ripples appeared in a certain order then overlap. We don't know what the ripples meant. If it is on the way, we should probably at least pass by one of the ripple spots to see if the area was important beyond triangulation for the overlap zone."
Going to assume you mean the order they were mentioned, since there was no visible order to the ripples stated.
Heading towards the Lutharin foothills they eventually came to a stop in an almost impassable area which Corvus thought was the most likely location to correspond to the ripple on the map. There were numerous large rocks and boulders strewn about, a number of which had been stacked to created a vaguely pyramidal structure.
Corvus pulled the carriage to a stop and hopped down. "Well we might as well have a look." He said as he approached the pyramid for a closer inspection.
Upon closer inspection the pyramid of stones was lined up in front of a gigantic slab of granite, which lay across the ground stretching out ten feet in one direction and five foot wide.
The tossed rock clattered loudly, producing a loud sound as rock collided with rock. It echoed through the foothills around them but otherwise had no apparent effect.
It was a pleasant summer afternoon, no sign of rain and the clouds seemed to be parting for maximum warmth and brightness.
