The Valestrian mansion is possibly the most extravagant building in Sylvan. Every inch of the landscape was extremely well manicured. The lawn was covered in large bushes that were cut into the shape of various animals. The mansion itself was huge and elegant. The entire estate was surrounded by a 10' cast iron fence. At the gate there were two men standing guard. There were also five well armed men simply walking about the grounds. There was beautiful thick ivy climbing up the sides of the house.
Kage stood by the others, his clothes already shifting into a blend of Sylvan styled clothes that blend easily into the night. "Is our plan all go in together, or separately?" He asked as he kept his focus with Bobby.
"It also seems to leave us at the mercy of whoever is doing the sneaking. If they should falter, we all go down, only those in the shadow place don't get to come back. I don't like that. Any other ideas? If not we can all just make our way in and get to the vault." Kage said.
Theron- Right, we have no idea how we're getting in or what their defenses are like so I suggest two groups so we have a better chance of getting to the vault at all. We have a target in mind, with any luck we'll meet there.
Eizen - "Two groups increases the chances of the guards being alerted as well. If that is our plan it might be better to let go of the idea of entering without the guards being any the wiser and switch to actively distracting them during the heist. As for groups, I imagine Kage and Kaia will be one group, the one with my dagger, and Theron will be the other. I can simply keep the staircase open until it is opened somewhere else - I will not be at risk of being trapped and I am both the least stealthy and, if my assumptions are correct, the most capable of creating a distraction from a distance of those gathered here should we deem it necessary."
**Eizen summons a dozen agate bats that silently waddle about the dark alley, entering shadows and appearing in others - all out of sight of the mansion, of course.**
Kage pondered. Then he agreed. "That sounds like a good plan. But I wish to be clear. I am carrying your dagger so that I can let you in once inside correct? Additionally I feel like mentioning we are going to be trying to-do this as quietly as possible to maximise our profit, but ready for the worst when it happens, agreed?"
Assuming the others agreed, he began to monitor the guards patterns to look for an opening to go over the walls.
**Eizen searches for a vantage point that allows him to glimpse as much of the grounds as possible without being easily seen. Wherever it is, Eizen uses the dagger to open the stairwell out of sight using his ability to create a lasting version of his own shadow and gives the dagger to Kage.
He also summons another dozen bats that stay out of sight for now. Hrm.. are there any shadows near the bushes out of sight of any of the guards?**
For his part Theron wrapped himself in shadows and began stalking the perimeter, looking over the entire building while his light magics sought out structural weaknesses.
Eizen doesn't see any easy way to gain a height advantage but he can see well enough to notice plenty of shadows on this side of the hedges. The house was well lit so there was plenty to work with.
Theron had no difficulties reaching the outside of the fence. Along the side of the property it was edged with short hedges that wouldn't be comfortable to stalk through, but it was doable. The house was amazingly well built and maintained, he didn't see anything obvious that he could turn to his advantage.
Kage watched the guards but they didn't seem to be on any obvious pattern. The upside was that he noticed plenty of gaps, tree downside was that they were unpredictable.
Kage waited for the next time there was a big enough gap around his area and then made to jump over the fence relying on his feline grace to get him up and over. He cast swathe as he landed and held still for a moment to make sure he wasn't caught. If all seemed well, he kept up the spell as he shifted his attire to blend to the area as best he could and his boots shifted to leave no trail.
**Eizen has a dozen of the bats fly into one of the shadows near him, (hopefully) emerging out of sight of the guards near one of the thicker bushes. The bats silently enter the bush and cause it to shake.**
Kage made it over the fence easily... Just as a guard rounded a bush. The bush shook a little and the surprised guard turned sharply towards it and backed a step. Kage was unseen for the moment.
**One of the second set of bats valiantly pops out of a shadow near Kage, flinging itself between Kage's dagger and the shadow.
The rest of the bats try to sneak into another bush near the distracted guard (on the side opposite of Kage), causing it to noisily shake while the first set remains still. Eizen dismisses either group if the guard tries to inspect their bush.**
As soon as the guard turned his attention away from Kage he took the opportunity to first glance and make sure no one else was looking this way and if it was clear used his stealth skill, boots, swathe and clothes to make a silent dash to the next nearest thing he could hide behind effectively that was out of the guards line of sight. Or at least in the opposite direction of him.
**Any bush the guard investigates turns out empty. Eizen re-summons any bats he dismisses, watching intently to see if Kage needs any more distractions.**
With Eizen running his distraction gambit at one of end of the building, Theron pushes through the gap in the bushes and towards the house itself. With this many guards Theron felt sure the family were bound to be lacks about their windows; still shrouded in shadows, he edged closer and hunted for one that was ajar.
Kage finds himself behind one of the large hedges. The guard seemed to have gotten bored and was moving off.
Theron got close enough to the house to view the windows. There weren't any on the first floor that were open, but he did see one on the second floor. Whether the others were locked was another story.
Theron took a look at the design of the building, trying to decide if he could climb up to the window safely. Before he was finished making the decision he started climbing anyway, he didn't have time to hang about checking the architecture.
