**As Laelaps disembarked, he found himself on a small, rather pleasant island. The beach was sandy and littered with shells, the air was fresh and salty, and the bright cacophony of uncountable birds filled the air. The dense jungle was directly ahead with a small, well-tended path cutting through it to lead to a sturdy little outpost of sorts.**
**Inside the outpost was snug and cluttered, filled with maps, books and a massive stuffed bear that took up nearly half of room all by itself. A man in khakis and a pith helmet with a truly elaborate mustache looked up at Laelap's greeting.**
Hunter - "Oh, what's all this then? Legrasse you say? Splendid lad, positively splendid!"
**The man swept the clutter off his table with a swing of his arm before unfurling a map of the island. He quickly identified and circled a small system of rivers with his fingers.**
Hunter - "The beast came in through the sea around a month ago, we believe. The blighter's mostly been picking off waders along the Mamiku River, but has been spotted over most of the island. The few times he has been spotted mind; say what you will about the blaggard but he is a crafty one."
Once the three, Laelaps and the poor chickens, arrived at the source, Laelaps looked around to see if there were any trees close enough to the lake to run a 20 foot rope into the shallow part of the lake's edge. Making sure not to get too close to the water.
Laelaps - This will do, now let's check out the other end.
Laelaps walked back to the mouth of the river going into the sea and looked around for anything near the river that would allow for something to hang over the river.
Laelaps grabbed one of his nets and laid it open and then threw it into one of the low branched trees, he then took one of the chicken and grabbed Gramps's Machete.
Laelaps - This ought to do nicely, now sorry about this.
Laelaps took the machete and quickly chopped at the birds wings and legs, not cutting through them, just cutting them enough to cause them to bleed and to make it escaping the net difficult. Suffice it to say the chicken didn't react happily and for lack of a better term "freaked out." Laelaps quickly threw the injured chicken into the center of the net and quickly started to head back to the source of the river. He hoped the chicken would make for a good enough bait to lure the crocodile to the Mamiku and also distract it from the source end of the river.
Seeing that the chicken landed in the net correctly, Laelaps made a beeline for the source of the river. Once there, he tossed the net open into the shallow end with his rope running through a few of the outer holes and then tied to the front near where it was run through to begin with. He made sure that the rope was laid flat and ran it to the tree. Laelaps then attempted to to bury the net and the rope except the part behind the tree by throwing sand on it. He really hoped that Legrasse was either enjoying his rope and chicken meal or at least wasn't waiting in the lake.
Laelaps - I'm here for the hunt, I will take care of Legrasse.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Hunter - "Oh, what's all this then? Legrasse you say? Splendid lad, positively splendid!"
Laelaps looked at the man's mustache, and then thought about his own facial hair. Maybe he should groom his similarly, it did look rather nice.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.

Laelaps - So it's smart, any descriptions about it's size?
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Laelaps - He's kinda big huh, do you know of where I can get some chickens?
A plan was starting to formulate in Laelaps's mind.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Laelaps started to leave the the outpost and then stopped.
Laelaps - Can I have a marked copy of that map, I'll meet you around here.
The boy pointed at the circled area, and then left after he either got a marked copy of the map or was told that a copy was unavailable.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Laelaps pointed at the circled area while moving his finger around.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
Laelaps - We need to go to the source of the Mamiku, we'll also check out the mouth of the river.
The boy started to head off toward the Mamiku River source.
Come on and check it out. You know you want to.
