Those who had signed up for the tournament at the Flush of Hearts found the chips they had been giving glowing with a pale blue light. When they returned to Kish, however promptly, they were lead into an expansive back room which had too tables laid out. One table was laid with a deep ruby red cloth, the other with a rich emerald green.
Each participant was handed a tray of one hundred chips, and informed that they would be playing Sailor's Hold, before being directed to either the ruby or emerald table.
Tryst, Feyrus, Edwin, Emille, and Gunther (a dour looking kindir chap) were directed towards the Ruby Table.
Valtaire, Yaagh, Stoz, Laroc and Wayland were assigned to the Emerald Table.
The format of the poker tournament will be Texas Hold 'Em, with minor variations, using the Elexian Deck. The Elexian Deck is identical in style to our own, save the suits and the face cards. The suits are Black Hearts, Red Blades, Black Coins and Red Cups. Jack's are replaced with Lords or Knaves depending on suit. Queen's are replaced with Dukes or Duchesses depending on suit. Kings are replaced with Kings or Queens depending on suit. These all score identically to their real world equivalents. Knaves are in Cups and Blades, Lords in Coins and Hearts. Dukes are in Cups and Coins, Duchesses in Hearts and Blades. Kings are in Cups and Hearts, Queens in Coins and Blades.
You have been split into two tables each with five participants, and will play until three of their number are out of chips. The two remaining players from each table will move on to a gold table to determine the tournament winner, the three losing players on each table will move to a black table to play for consolation prizes.
A crowd gathered to watch the tournament from a distance, some even lined the balcony above the room, hoping for a better view of the proceedings. Players not involved in the tournament may use this thread to comment as spectators and enjoy a chance to socialise with other characters.
Threads for the two tables and PMs will be forthcoming at least within the next 24 hours. Feel free to mill around on this thread, intimidating and carousing with one another before being sent to your tables.

Yaagh stared at the pretty things, and he has never had so many objects to count all at once! He fascinatedly sat and counted them over and over, never once going over 9.

QuestionL Do the different names between suits not count as eachother? If you have two lords and two knaves, would that count as four of a kind or two pair?
