MTG Salvation

Leona led Mendeli to a small house, obviously beyond her current means and not very well kept at all. Plates and clothing items were discarded all about the place, left wherever they were finished with. The woman led him up to a plain wooden door, knocking on it lightly.

Leona- Koyl honey? There's a man here to speak with you.

Mendeli waited for a response at the door.

No response came; Leona seemed to be very 'on edge'.

Lich - Does he usually not answer when you knock?

Mendeli glanced around the area as he spoke.

The hallway seemed normal.

Leona- Its about half and half.

Koyl- Send in your church man, mother.

Mendeli's hand moved to open the door.

Lich - Here we go then. Hello Koyl.

As soon as Lich opened the door a collection of heavy metallic objects clattered to the floor in front of him. They included a saucepan a wrench and not a small number of forks. They missed Mendeli by an inch. The nadrask could not see Koyl, but heard him clearly enough.

Koyl- Oh bugs.

Lich - How long were you waiting for someone to open the door?

Mendeli scooted the metal items out of his way with his foot.

Koyl- Since she knocked. They've been up their longer but I have other things to focus on.

The room was a complete mess, filled with innumerable pieces of junk, detritus and the occasional item of worth. It was hard to tell of Koyl was hidden among the rubbish or part of it.

Mendeli picked up the wrenched and slid it across the floor ahead of himself.

Lich - Such as?

Koyl- One of our neighbours is having an affair. Not sure he's going to get away with it this time.

Lich - That sounds interesting.

Mendeli walked toward the sound of Koyl's voice, sliding the wrench along the floor ahead of himself the entire time.

Koyl- Window's over to your left.

Mendeli made his way over to the window.

Lich - How did you discover what your neighbor was doing Koyl?

As he got to the window he spotted Koyl, he was a short, skinny little boy with sunken eyes and scruffy grey-orange hair.

Koyl- I see better than most.

Lich - That's quite a useful talent. Is that what you spend your day doing, watching things outside through your window?

Koyl- I do a lot of listening too. I play tricks when it gets boring.

Lich - Listening is also a good habit. Who do you play tricks on?

Koyl- My pa- mother. My mother mostly. Anyone else whenever I get a chance.

Lich - Koyl, I don't think playing tricks on your mother has much worth to you, does it?

Koyl- She never helped with father. Always defended him.

Lich - So you play tricks on her because you feel she could have done more to help with your father's problem. Did you know that it's sometimes hard for a person to really see what's truly wrong with someone they love? It can make doing the best thing for them hard and maybe even impossible under certain circumstances. Koyl, what would you have done for your father if you had had the means and chance to do something for him in the past?

Koyl- I did what needed to be done with father. Mother thinks he drank himself to death.

Lich - Did he not?

Koyl- It's true and it's not.

Koyl looked off to one side for a moment, before looking out the window again.
