Welcome to the Land Where Gods Rule. Labeled Elysium by the residents, things were good for a time. The pantheistic land was in peace, the land thrived, and people lived good lives. That is, until the gods got bored.
It was made a game to begin with. The gods needed something to do, with their eternal lives. They started gathering followers, pitting them against each other in holy wars, backed by the divine powers of the gods they followed. Titanic battles were fought. Gods soon were put on tiers of ability, the lower gods stripped of abilities until they could go up the ladder once more. More gods were created to make the game ever evolving. Yes, a game wagering men's lives.
The game escalated rapidly until the land was torn apart. The unthinkable started to happen: gods were killed. Soon, few were left. And those few had only one thought in mind: Survival by total control. An idea occurred to one of them, and this idea was copied by the rest. Put their powers in one hero, and let that hero conquer the lands held by the other gods. In this way, they would achieve total domination.
Those heroes are you. Choose thy god, and serve him. Follow his orders and defeat thy enemies. Good luck, you face divine powers beyond your comprehension.
God List
1. Cors - God of Fire
2. Onxi - God of Death
3. Volbea - Goddess of Life
4. Ifern - God of Water
5. Lux - Goddess of Lightning
6. Garvel - God of Earth
7. The Lady - Goddess of Luck
8. Tennet - Goddess of Fate
I'll play a female warrior who follows the path of Lux, the goddess of lightning, she wields a sword made of steel a special alloy that prevents vibration.
Name: Jessica Rockfoot
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Apperance: a strong slender woman with black hair. She has tan skin and green eyes.
Apperal: A white jacket with golden borders covers over a white shirt. She has unnaturally bright white pants and bright white shoes as well.
Background. Jessica grew up in a very bright, sun powered city. She was always facinated with thunderstorms as she grew up and would always go outside when it was storming. She was brave growing up and it was that trait that nearly killed her. She was struck by lightning at the age of 21 and then was saved, and empowered, by Lux. She is now her champion.
Weapons: A sword imbued with the power of lightning. It is made of a special alloy that prevents vibration. This makes it easy to wield.
I'll play a small lithe huntress under the matronship of Tennet, Goddess of Fate. She wields a pair of dual sabers and a dozen of small throwing daggers.
Fire and water are all that's left? Wow. Tough choice. I think I'll have to go with fire.
The passionate youth who has aquired the faith of Cors and the blessing of his arm, a ring that expands into flaming blade at will.
ninja edit: YES! First one to edit the full-size profile. IN YOUR FACES!
Name: Jack Age: 17 Sex: Male Appearence: 5'11" with an everlasting smile. Natural red hair, light complexion, and green eyes. Very small and weak muscle tone. Almost always seen with his hands in his pockets. Apparell: Blue jeans and a red t-shirt. Background: Jack from originally from another realm (earth) but was pulled in this one to serve Cors. He found he liked Cors's ways, and accepted his new faith. For some unexplained reason, he is much stronger here than in his normal plane, though he is still only as strong as the average hero of the gods. He was brought here instead of a stronger being because of a more metaphorical purpose. Fire always starts small, but is quick to grow into a raging inferno. And so Jack believes that is the reason Cors chose him. Personality: His faith is unwavering and his passion admirable. What he lacks for in experience and ability he more than makes up for in personality and tenacity. Items: A cell phone (with no signal. :p), a wallet with a driver's license, and $14. Weapons: The ring blade. A weapon given to him by Cors, it appears as a ring, worn on JAck's right ring finger, but transforms into a blade with the power of the flame at his will. This weapon is also a metaphor in that fire begins small but can unexpectedly grow into a huge problem.
I realize I'm probably kinda pushing it with this character, but is he good?
I'll post a new slightly different character then since I have a beautiful picture for it.
Name: Lei Fatum Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 27 Deity: Tennet, Goddess of Fate Appearance: Pale, milky white expression with the symbol of Tennet tattooed on her forehead. Long shimmering jet black hair. Tall and slim. Apparel: Body tight leather outfit with chains and belts. White metal gloves and boots. Dark purplish blue cloak with hood. Weapons: Double-edged long swords with retractable blades for convenience, usually hung at her belt. Background: Raised as an assassin for the Cult of Tennet from young, Lei knew not her past from before that. What she was ordered, she complete with an efficiency and silence that was befitting her status as the Chosen of Tennet. She was allowed judgment for each of her task and the verdict was usually guilty. She questioned not; she asked not. All that mattered were her duty and Tennet.
Stats & Facts Name: Cal Marthon Race: Good Ol' Fashioned Human Age: Looks to be in his late teens. Height: 6'2" Appearance: A crop of mousey brown hair, warm and unmarred facial features, striking blues eyes. Cal is the very picture of youthful optomism, and heroism. Apparel: Cal wears simple peasant garb, an off white cotton shirt, denim looking pants and a worn pair of leather boots. Background: There was nothing very remarkable about Cal, he hunted with his bow to hunt for animals to sell for meat and hide so he could afford to get by in his home town. Not really a warrior, he might have been chosen entirely at random.
Skills/Attributes Keen Eyes Cal's eyes are sharper and can see further, in worse lighting conditions than most people. The Lady's Smile Cal is the chosen of Lady Luck herself, and this is bound to grant him at least a little good luck.
Weapon Items Feather Rain A simple ash long bow, crafted to be sturdy and shoot straight. It has served Cal fairly well in the hunting of prey.
Non-Weapon Items Arrows A number of entirely normally fletched arrows, with various different feather types. Somehow he always seems to have enough.
Keep in mind that the technological level for these quests will be roughly what DAK is doing. Dark ages, magic, fantasy, what have you. Cell phones are a no-no.
And try to keep it low level without powers. Your gods will give you your powers.
Stats & Facts Name: Archibald Melville Sex: Male Race: Human Age: 35 Height: 5'8" Weight: 125 lbs Appearance: Dark, scraggly brown hair that is kept cropped unfashionably short into an unfashionable haircut which he unfashionably gives himself every few nights, due to the oddly fast rate it grows. Dark blue eyes that have gone a touch myopic from years of reading small print by candlelight. A mostly unremarkable face with a hooked nose and large bushy eyebrows, full of character if a bit plain, usually sporting dark patches of stubble that don't seem to want to stay shaven. A rather pale, somewhat yellowed complextion, not unlike the page of book that is starting to age a bit. A thin, unimpressive build with knobby elbows and mostly unremarkable hump from years of slouching. Rather large hands with ink-stained fingertips. A notable lack of any sort of pock-marking or scarring, a highly unlikely condition for anyone who was born into anything but wealth to possess. Apparel: A dusty old hat that has been stamped, stretched, tossed, battered, twisted, and sat upon beyond counting. Small spectacles with a golden wire frame, the only semi-nice thing he bothers to keep up with. A largish coat with more than a few patches and more than a few stains, its deep pockets containing quills, ink stoppers, crumpled notes, half-finished letters, ancient packages of dried fruit, a few crowns, keys that don't seem to go to anything in particular, along with anything else he might have lost in them. A hastily thrown on white shirt under an equally hastily thrown on old vest. A utilitarian belt with a utilitarian buckle, holding up utilitarian pants. Soft shoes, better suited for sitting around a library all day than any sort of travel. Background: Archibald Meville is not strong. He is not adventureous, he is not good-looking, and he is not charming. And he is certainly not a hero. Rather, he is a frumpy, grouchy, somewhat obsessive librarian, a tyrant of books who has acted middle aged since he was seven. More than content to spend his life cataloging and notating, the last thing Archibald wanted was to be any sort of chosen anything. Particularly by something so uncivilized and wet-sounding as a Life goddess. Archibald is not going to kiss any babies, that he knows for sure.
Skills/Attributes Sections A through Z, With Footnotes
As the head librarian and scholar of a rather sizable library, Archibald possesses an admirable level of knowledge within a wide variety of subjects. However, his devotion to scholarly pursuits didn't leave much time for the study of swinging sharp things at people. As is such, he is not much of a warrior. Or any of a warrior, really. Bringing Reading to Life
Through his connection to both the Goddess of Life and books, Archibald is able to work an odd subset of Life Magic. As long as he has had time to study a tome or book soundly, Archibald may bring figures within that work to life under his service. However, this takes a great deal of concentration and power, often leaving Arcibald weak and relatively defenseless.
Items
>The Curious Tale of Darby McGil - A large leatherbound tome, rather old by the look of things, that contains within a collection of stories surrounding Darby McGil, a legendary drunkard and miscreant. Archibald thinks the book is mostly trash and undoubtedly untrue, but the man obsessively reads and rereads it, relaxing himself by erasing and then scrawling in new footnotes.
So the fact that he had it on him when he was pulled has no affect on this judgement? The most he could do with that phone is play tetris for an hour before the bettery ran out. Unless he tied it over his heart to protect from an arrow or something. The only possible logic you could have for saying no is if the entire getting pulled from another plane was inappropriate, in which case, why wouldn't you just say so?
Race: Human/Mermaid Age: Appears youthful; real age unknown Height: 5'5½" Weight: 118 lbs. Appearance: Consumingly beautiful... Apparel: Soon to be inappropriately described er dressed... Background: see above, the soon to be part at least
