Welcome to Night Vale
I've never really understood or gotten into podcasts, sorry.
I can tell you why they appeal to me: the radio sucks. When I am driving to work and I want to listen to something that isn't 1: Music off my iPod or 2: NPR, I go to a podcast. I mainly chose ones from comedians with my favorites being
How Did This Get Made: Paul Sheer (Andre from the League), Jason Mantzoukas (Rafi from the League) and June Diane Raphael (NTSF:SD:SUV) all get together with a guest and make fun of terrible movies and ask the question that is the title of the podcast. It is amazingly funny and I enjoy listening even when I haven't seen the movie they are talking about (though it certainly helps)
SModCast: Kevin Smith (Clerks) and Scott Mosier (Producer of Clerks) just talk about whatever they want. It just works because Kevin Smith can tell an interesting story about anything so long as you don't mind his foul mind and mouth.
Fatman on Batman: Kevin Smith talks about his favorite comic hero, Batman. You really get to appreciate the people behind the comics and tv shows listening to them talk about making it. Some of my favorite guests have been Mark Hamill, Scott Snyder and Grant Morrison. Its really a lesson in the stuff behind the Bat.
For me Podcasts fill the void of being light but relatively un-engaging. So they are good in the car or when at work I don't have anything particularly difficult to work on. They also are appealing because they are low cost so people can make them on niche topics, its really all about finding some you like and going from there.

Ah yeah if I had to update my iPod to listen to them I wouldn't do that. I either download them directly to my phone or to my computer and then put them on my phone.
I really like being able to listen to the comedic networks like SMODCO, Earwolf or Nerdist all of which have amazing podcasts with some of the funniest working comedians today.
I would love if someone can recommend some MTG related pod casts I can download to my android for free. I'm driving about 10 hours to visit my parents for christmas and could really use something to listen to. I've listened to the Adam Carolla and Dr Drew podcasts before, and if I don't find good MTG ones, I'll be using these again.
I've been a podcast listener for a while. I started with The Magic Sock(which is no more) and MTGCast and have come to enjoy hearing about my favorite things at the fan level. My current subscriptions are as follows: PodCastle(fantasy) & EscapePod(sci-fi/speculative fiction) from the fiction group Escape Artists Inc, The Tome Show, and Roleplaying Public Radio. I also subscribe to "Podio" books at times. There are a lot of great stories out there and new authors are putting out audio versions directly to the public. I use podiobooks.com for that, though sometimes just searching "podcast novel" will bring up interesting things. Right now I'd love to find a good Guild Wars 2 podcast, preferably by someone on the Blackgate server.
I love podcasts for background noise while I drive and make art. The ones I listen to the most are:
The Joe Rogan Experience: Great variety of guests and topics. Rogan is a super open minded and positive individual and it makes for some very interesting conversations. He's also a stand up comedian so sometimes they are just goofy and funny conversations. Either way, it's awesome and is my number one pick.
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History: Carlin is a very gifted story teller and goes very in depth with these examinations of history. He's a journalist by trade and he uses his research abilities and story telling gifts to paint amazing word pictures of historical events. He keeps them entertaining and engaging, not at all like listening to a boring teacher drone on and on during a lecture.
The Drunken Taoist: Hosted by Daniele Bolelli, author of Create Your Own Religion where he basically takes the same approach Bruce Lee had with martial arts and applies it to religion. He's a historian, philosopher, professor, writer, martial artist, and many other things. Another super open minded individual who has interesting guests and great conversations.
The Nerdist: Good fun for nerds.
Star Talk Radio: Hosted by Niel Degrasse Tyson, he takes pretty much any topic and breaks it down scientifically. Pretty interesting and entertaining.
There's a few others but I only listen to sporadically so I don't feel like mentioning them.
i love the Joe Rogan Experience, he has both the audio and video podcast version. I prefer pod casts to the radio, especially while i am driving long distances. (alot better then having to fund a new radio station every 45 minutes lol) Joe Rogan i find extremely funny and entertaining, maybe a little "out there" at times, but still interesting.
The second cast that i listen to alot is the Decently Funny by The Nuzzy and Guy. They are just a couple of comedians that get famous celebrities, writers, actors, etc... and they just talk about what ever. I prefer comedy podcast mostly.
The Giant Bombcast is pretty good for video game related chat. They even occasionally talk about card games. One of them is just starting to get into MTG and they've all had shared experiences with Cards Against Humanity.
The Dismal Jesters is....****ing terrible, but I like when they talk about table top games, so I tend to tough it out (unless they get super preachy about social issues.) On a similar note, Podtoid seems to be returning to a somewhat normal podcast, so I might start giving them a listen.
I've been thinking about checking out Commandercast. Does anyone have any opinions on that one?
If you like Wrasslin, Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, and Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcasts are both gold

Dear kbx41,
You have received a warning at MTG Salvation Forums.
Reason:
-------
Flaming or Other Forms of Misbehavior
Saying that you sometimes wish people (in this case the implication is the staff) would fall down a well and get AIDS is hardly appropriate for the forum.
The Mana Pool - Reminds me of my friends & I sitting around talking Magic
Wrestling Observer - Have some friends who are involved in the professional "wrestling" game, so it's fun to hear about them sometimes...plus, they cover MMA as well.
Leo Laporte - Tech advice show...been hearing from him all the way back when he had a tv show on TechTV.
The Unexplained - Brit guy talking about paranormal stuff...does it get more fun?
We're Alive - "Zombie" serial that is pretty well done.
Welcome to Nightvale - Hilarious oddity.
A few different Bigfoot/sasquatch podcasts - Not because I believe, but because I find them to be HILARIOUS while I'm at work!
A few different Magic podcasts....Judgecast, At Your End Step, Monday Night Magic
Guess that it's a good thing that I can listen to this stuff while I'm actually working. Also proves that I'm not very important where I work....
The Dice Tower (podcast about board/card games)
Chatterbox Video Game Radio
The Jeff Rubin Jeff Rubin Show
Stuff You Should Know
Shut Up And Sit Down
Joy of Cubing
JoshB asked like 2 weeks ago why I like what I like, so I'm gonna add that. Felt like a good idea.
Abject Suffering - The Watch out for Fireballs play bad videogames for half an hour, then talk about them. Really funny.
Dead Idea Valhalla - Gary Butterfield's variety show podcast. Very interesting since it's just him talking and singing. Good original music.
Drive to Work (Mark Rosewater's Podcast) - I'm a big Mark Rosewater fan, and he's passionate about his job, so just hearing him talk about design stories in his Jay Leno voice is fun. It's also fairly short most of the time, and I like my podcasts generally to be under an hour, though a couple on this list break that rule.
The Objective Standard - Fairly sure this doesn't update anymore, but it's articles from the magazine The Objective Standard read aloud. A good starting point if you're at all interested in Objectivism.
The Objectivism Seminar - Hosted by Greg Perkins, a roundtable discussion of various Objectivist literature. These are much better if you've read what they're discussing, though it's pretty interesting, again, if you're interested in Objectivism.
The Onion and The Onion Radio News - These are on my subscriptions, though I don't keep up with them regularly. They're basically joke of the day podcasts. Some are as short as 40 seconds or so, so it's easy to catch up when I do listen to them.
Peikoff.com - MAN I listen to a lot of Objectivism. This is Leonard Peikoff's podcast, where he answers questions of general interest, like relationships and personal decisions, through an Objectivist lens. Every other week, Yaron Brook answers questions about current politics, too, so it's a good mix. It's also typically 15-20 minutes, good length, and it's weekly.
The Pitch - Gary Butterfield and Brayton Cameron discuss ideas for silly, pun-filled products. Follow the twitter to get an idea of what you're in for.
Power Hour - Alex Epstein of the Center for Industrial Progress interviews various figures in the energy industry. Also includes debates and speaking engagements. Very good stuff if you work in the energy industry or if you're just curious about it.
Watch out for Fireballs! - A retro games podcast by Gary Butterfield and Kole Ross. Often really, really funny, and I like the thoroughness of it.
We Hate Movies - A comedy podcast about bad movies. The crew watches one bad movie, then goes through it, observing what's wrong with it and picking apart various things. They seem like a fun group of guys; I wish I lived on the east coast so I could go to their live shows.
Welcome to Night Vale - People know this one, right? It's a psuedo-Lovecraftian fiction series about the exploits of a desert community called Night Vale, as told by a local radio host. Creepy and very funny.
...I guess everyone knows what my politics are now. Hm.

Your in the same boat as I am. I am currently saving up to upgrade the radio to have a "Line In" put on and upgrade/fix my speakers(they are starting to die out)
The upgrade on the radio isn't that expensive and can save a lot of hassle.
Note: Podcasts don't have to be about driving. Listen to a show when you're doing the dishes, or building a deck, or working on a crossword, or just browsing the internet.
This American Life is amazing. Each show has a theme with a couple stories relating to it. Runs the gamut of human emotion (funny, sad, etc)
Radiolab is quite good as well. Amazingly produced.
I sometimes listen to BBC's A Point of View.
I sometimes listen to The Partially Examined Life

I have 28 different EDH decks
I am really disappointed with MTG cast. The audio is very inconsistent and every podcast seems to be from weeks ago.
Shout out to bump in the night, this is the only quality cast on the network, but its a edm podcast named after a magic card. Not an MTG podcast.
I would really like to find a quality podcast, any suggestions?
