Has anyone worked on a fish deck yet now that RoE is completely spoiled? Anyone want to begin bringing together ideas on a potential fish deck?

Odds of pulling a JtMS from a WWK pack: 1:80
Odds of pulling any specific rare in 5th Edition: 1:133
So, on average, 1 JtMS every 2.222 boxes or 1 Bird of Paradise every 3.694 boxes. Yeah, I'll take my odds with Mythics, they are easier to get than old rares.

I would love to get something going. Now that we have the tools, we can make it better, faster, stronger...but in all seriousness this needs to be done...i will work on it and try to come up with a possible list

I'm in the same boat...gotta love that work thing. Speaking of ideas...what cards in RoE do you think will work best in a fish deck. I think there are a good deal of options but we still have to work for it. I personally like Coralhelm Commander in a UW fish type build

If we're doing U/W fish, I like Distortion Smite as a potential sideboard vs U/W control (get through those nasty Wall of Denials), Enclave Cryptologist has good early game card advantage and good late game with fish having access to 2 lords (literally use him as a beater mid-late game), Halimar Wavewatch could be useful as an early game blocker and a late game beater, especially if we move towards more mono blue. If we move it to mono blue, we can run Spreading Seas and convincing mirage for some control and Merfolk Sovereign for more beefy fish. Merfolk Observer and Merfolk Skyscout are both solid card choices.
Looking at it, I think Skywatcher Adept is the only fish from RoE I don't know if I like.

id say go with a american-fish(r,w,u) ill post a deck list sooner then later and i feel sense roe fish has gotten some amazing cards(the levelers mainly)
IF we are going to go mono blue, I feel like we should be running Thada alongside cosi's trickster. Thada can be like pouring gasoline on a decks toolbox if you get her going. But yeah I like where youa re going with this.

Very good point, and another islandwalker isn't bad at all.
In some ways, this is kinda sad, going from no viable mono U decks to trying to build one because of 1 set.

i feel that the deck is better off going into other colors
american-fish: gives you bolt, path, vengeant, 8 fetches to smooth the mana base over and
esper-fish: gives you esper charm, it also give you the ability to play the game as a more disruptive/aggro via meddling mage and tidehollow plus black opens up more kill for reach
Version 2: Cut 1 Trickster, 1 Wavewatch, 1 Skyscout, added 3 Thada Adel, Acquisitor. Reasoning: 2/2 for 3 with Islandwalk that can start wrecking an opponent's deck, especially with the new RoE cards, can be very useful.

I think three colors will slow the deck down and fish needs to come out fast. U/W will probably be the colors to go with, although mono-blue splash black for hand disruption could work i think.

Jacerator is an aggro deck - it just wins by attacking the library, it doesn't really control the board other than to play a few Fogs

yeah i forget that fish needs to come out swinging lol
Just going to add my two cents here since the spoiler being completed means I can start frameworking new control for regionals, but why not push for Uw fish.
That opens up some more utility like:
[card]
Sejiri Merfolk
[/card]
Also adding the removal of Path to Exile, Oblivion Ring ect seems needed in this meta
@ Kelnon: So this is going to sound like I'm a terrible player, but I think I like Unified Will for a deck with so many 1-2 drops. It becomes a hard counter against pretty much any control deck and you can side it out against decks that flood the board with tokens.
Ok so some tweaks to your list. I took out the 1-of dudes in favor of bumping the trickster up to 4 (she's good) and tweaked some numbers to put in 2x Unified Will, because if we are going to have lullmage mentor in there we should have enough counters to use him fully. I also dropped the See beyond to a 2-of so I could put in some spreading seas to "turn on" our landwalkers.
Another card I thought we might want to try is Regress as bounce is always a good way to control the board and it serves both a defensive and offensive role.

Hmm interesting Idea adding the stoneforge package. That might be good. So what equipment would we run? All I can think of is something like sigil of distinction and basilisk collar.

there are more than 4 merfolk that are playable (merfolk sovereign is not on your list and is a 3 drop lord instead of having to wiat a couple turns to become a lord)
I might think about the UW version a bit, but I will probably end up building/running both to see what I like.

The whole reason to push it is the pair of merfolk lords in t2. That gives you 8 lords in the deck, meaning that the more lords you can pump out, the bigger they get (since the lords are merfolk themselves).

There aren't any good equipments for UW to run - I don't see the package being very beneficial.
Agreed. I understand the white package for the removal, but I really can just see the mono U being better due to the prevalance of Merfolk lords.

the only single reason I would run UW over the MU is the manlands because they are excellent. However i think that as MU it will be a smoother deck and have better focus that if you load down with removal and other guys.

Favorite Cards: Serendib Efreet, Mana Drain, Library of Alexandria, Demonic Tutor, Undermine, Mox Sapphire.
Up to 4 Infraction Warnings. The latest was from CorpT. I mentioned that a decklist looks good, and apart from a couple cards that'll be out of Standard in October, the list was solid. I got a warning for THAT! I mean, people have drug references in their signatures, yet I get a week long ban for mentioning SoM in October? Yeah, ok.
I can see no real argument for going mono U. We have great mana fixing in Standard - to the point where you have to be asking yourself why you aren't running multiple colours. The only reason you wouldn't run other colours is for cards like Leatherback Baloth and the like.
Yes there is mana fixing, but having to run the extra mana fixing detracts from the rest of the deck. I'm not going to completely discount the UW idea until i have a chance to test it, but as of now I think that the better option is to keep the mana base U...
