Arguments in favor of unbanning it:
-Lightning Strike is coming back.
-Fatal Push kills it even without Revolt.
-Abrade kills it.
-Thraben Inspector is rotating out, and that was one of the most popular ways to crew Copter.
Card is seriously not the overpowered threat it was when it was banned.

I mean this standard format is pretty awesome, on the cheaper side with half a dozen viable decks plus fringe options popping up. Why risk blowing it up?
Maybe there is an argument based on power level, although "dies to removal" seems sketchy. When the worst case is that it gets removed as a 1 for 1, and it takes over when not removed, that could still be warping.
My main annoyance was with it's ubiguity. I like to brew synergy decks and it was almost always correct to take out 4 synergy cards and put in 4 copters. That might not be enough of a reason to ban when we now have better answers, but it seems like keeping it banned is a lower bar than banning it in the first place. I am happy with it remaining banned due to the ubiquity problem.
Personally I don't think it should have ever been banned in the first place, but now that it has been banned for over 8 months I see no reason to unban it. The price would just shoot back up and almost everyone would need to buy 4 copies again
Enough of the vehicles shell is hanging around to make this a bad idea Imo. It's a solid shot in the arm in setting up evasive beats in the air and there are plenty of small things hanging around to jump in and drive. Don't forget we're going to get duress back too, so strip a kill spell drop a 1 or 2 drop hit and loot all on T3. Vehicles is already hitting for 10 on T3 with toolcraft > heart > Thalia/scrapheap/PW. The last thing I want is to make it more consistent.
This is without even considering decks like BG tokens that can just load it up with counters for air beats.
Any token decks that can crew for days.
It dodges all sorcery speed wipes.
Is obscene next to heart of Kiran.
Fixes draws and wins games if it goes unchecked. Which is fine for a 4-5 mana cmc card in standard...not a non legendary 2 drop with no color restrictions.
Imagine having to play a glorybringer and leave it back so you can block a copter. That's bad feels all day :(.
We also are bringing in a set with the raid mechanic and a lot of cheap creatures. Smugglers copter was banned for being too efficient and everyone playing it. That would just happen again.
I think the looting mechanic in and of itself is something that Wizards doesn't want in standard. Just look at Daring Saboteur. You have to jump through every hoop in the world just to maybe loot. They just messed up when they made the copter... by their standards. I personally think it would be fine to see it unbanned
Smugglers copter literally slots into both mid-range and aggressive decks at the 2 cmc slot thanks to it's ability to card filter and is better than Heart of Kiran, which is a mythic at the same casting cost. They are never going to unban that card in standard even with better counters because it will just result in everyone perma-locking their sideboard slots and possibly force some colors into some decks to deal with it.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

This is actually a really good point. You can drop Ornithopter for 0 and use it to crew Smuggler's Copter as a 4/4.
