What do you guys think? I thought mono black would be a good idea going into a horror themed set. Was thinking of cutting a Mortuary Mire and something else for 2 main deck Mind Rot's too but I don't know.
I'd almost want to splash red for dark dwellers and some extra removal and chandra of course. As far as just mono black goes I'd almost want to add thought knot seer and the painlands with mirror pool and sea gate wreckage just for value purposes.
Yes good ideas, but it's also a budget brew. I should have mentioned in my first post. I only play standard because my LGS does not yet support modern.
The only card I mentioned that's above 5 dollars is thought knot seer. Dwellers are 3-5$ and most removal besides k command are Commons or uncommon that you'd add.smoldering marshespecially are like 3$ then sure mires are 12$ but the rest of your lands would be colorless or the pain lands which are like 1-3$
Death Wind and Risen Executioner are just bad.
I'd think about Reave Soul and Erebos's Titan in their places before going anywhere else (but I agree that a slower BR Dragons build is probably the direction this deck wants to go)

In the future you should post budget decks like this in the Budget Deck Forum. That being said, you do have some powerful (and somewhat expensive) cards like Kalitas in the deck that will only increase in value during SOI Block.
Risen Executioner is a horrible card unless you plan on going zombie tribal which you're deck currently is not. In order to get the most out of him and Kalitas, you should be running numerous smaller low CMC zombie creatures. Also, the fact that executioner is four mana and can't block is a huge no no. If anything you should only be running one, MAYBE two in the deck total instead of a full set.
Death Wind is a bad removal card. I'd take it out and replace it with Fleshbag Marauder or Carrier Thrall.
Ob Nixilis is a good card, but you really don't need to run four of him either. He costs five mana, so you never really want to have more than one in your hand at any point. Plus you're not running a lot of life gain in the deck, so his +1 will be costly to your life total if you're not careful. I recommend two, three at most if you absolutely feel like you want a lot of him in the deck.
Other people's suggestions in this thread are solid and I'd take their advice as well.
It's still a bit rough. I like it. It's control. Once you have them in a tight spot of having no cards in hand... Drop an inverter. Use murderous cut to set up the perfect leftover library of Reality Smashers (his abilities are amazing in a discard theme deck) and etc. Ruinous Path is an intense fall back win con lol. Kalitas alone can lead the brigade. I have not completely tested this. I feel like with the appropriate hand disruption this deck can fair well against aggro.
My next issue:
Grasp of Darkness vs Spatial Contortion...I am trying to keep in mind that Grasp hits a lot more things but...spatial does also have the opportunity to buff our creatures for good damage boosts. damage is not an ultimate priority so I will probably stick with Grasp atm.
I like the force choke that this deck can provide. Seemingly endless hate spells with discard and highly interactive creatures. Mirror pool is costly but the ability to COPY a reality smasher or duplicate a remorseless punishment is godly.
Ohh maybe a Golgari control build thinking something like trainwreck for post rotation standard. Not sure if it would be possible but worth a shot i'll start brewing something sounds fun though Rock'n'Eldrazi or something.
I think there's enough things to throw into the graveyard between instants, sorceries, lands, and enchantments to fully activate To the Slaughter, but I might want to add another Dead Weight and drop the Ultimate Price or something else. We might have another card revealed that changes it up, but for the most part, I think this is a solid list that will be a force to deal with. Obviously sideboard will get fine tuned later, and if the deck becomes more popular, we'll need something for the mirror, but until then this is my starting point. Lets get MBC back on the map!
